Job summary

Nordstrom, Inc. seeks a Director of Store Facilities to lead safety, reliability and operational performance across Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack stores. You will build a high-performing regional facilities team and drive capital projects, maintenance programs, and KPI reporting to optimize cost and quality.

This executive role requires deep technical knowledge of building systems and strong financial acumen, with Seattle as the base and up to 50% travel.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in Facilities, Maintenance, Property Management, Operations, or similar asset-intensive environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; advanced technical or business education preferred.
  • Demonstrated success leading leaders across large, geographically distributed teams.
  • Deep technical knowledge of building systems including HVAC, MEP, vertical transportation, BMS/EMCS, and fire/life safety across a large-format retail portfolio.
  • Experience with CMMS platforms for multi-site PM management, KPI tracking, and performance reporting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong executive presence; comfortable presenting to senior leadership.
  • Experience managing multi-site operating and capital budgets; strong financial acumen including forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Proven ability to manage complex vendor relationships and contracts across a large geographic portfolio; knowledge of lease terms and landlord coordination.
  • Professional affiliations (IFMA, BOMA, RILA, ConnexFM) and operational excellence certifications (Six Sigma, Lean, TPC) preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications & AI usage.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% based on business need.

Responsibilities

  • Create a strong culture by building and developing a high-performing team of Regional Facilities Managers engaged with the mission of supporting customers and team members.

  • Ensure Preventive and Predictive Maintenance (PM and PdM) and Corrective Maintenance across the store network to maximize utility and minimize cost.
  • Own and report on KPIs, SLAs, and operational metrics (PM completion, safety, BSAT/CSAT) to demonstrate value to the business.
  • Manage headcount, operating, and capital expenses for Store Facilities to meet objectives and budgets.
  • Negotiate and deliver capital projects at cost and on time, in partnership with Facilities Centralized Programs.
  • Apply operational excellence models such as Gemba, Kaizen, 5S, and Six Sigma principles.

Job Description

The Director, Store Facilities provides the strategy and leadership that keeps Nordstrom full-line and Nordstrom Rack stores safely operated, with reliable systems, equipment, and infrastructure that support the customer and employee experience.


This role oversees safety, reliability, and operational performance across both banners, delivered through a team of Regional Facilities Managers who lead area and on-site Facilities team members.


The Director is a key leader in the Facilities and Operations organizations, driving alignment of business needs, Facilities values, and banner-specific execution models across the store portfolio.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Create a strong culture by building and developing a high‑performing team of Regional Facilities Managers who are engaged, innovative, and deeply connected to the mission of supporting our customers and team members.

  • Champion growth and development across all levels to build a stable, long‑term pipeline of talent.

  • Ensure the implementation of Preventive and Predictive Maintenance (PM and PdM) and Corrective Maintenance across the store network that maximizes utility and minimizes cost.

  • Ownership & accountability of performance by creating, reporting, refining, and acting on KPIs, Service Level Agreements, and operational metrics (e.g., PM completion, safety, BSAT/CSAT) that quantitatively demonstrate value to the business.

  • Manage headcount, operating, and capital expenses for the Store Facilities organization to achieve objectives and meet budget expectations.

  • Negotiate and deliver capital projects at cost and on time, in partnership with Facilities Centralized Programs, to support business needs across the store network.

  • Employ operational excellence through models, methods, and approaches such as Gemba, Kaizen, 5S, and other Six Sigma principles.

Pay Range Details

The pay range(s) below has been provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different for other locations. Pay offers are dependent on the location, as well as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.


$150,000.00 - $245,000.00 Annual
