Alvarez & Marsal seeks a Director in its State and Local Tax practice in New York to lead planning, compliance and advisory work for multi-state clients. You will manage teams, supervise engagements and drive client value while mentoring Associates and Managers.

The role emphasizes leadership, strategic tax planning, and cross-team collaboration within a high-performance firm environment in the United States.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of State and Local Tax experience with complex issues.
• Licensed CPA or Licensed Attorney.
• Proven ability to lead others while managing multiple work streams.
• Trusted tax and business advisor: building relationships and addressing client needs.
• Passion for training and mentoring staff.
• Excellent verbal and written skills.
• Advanced user of Microsoft Office products including Power BI.

Responsabilités

• Lead tax planning and compliance for multi-state corporate and pass-through entities.
• Manage a team delivering state and local tax advisory services, including reviews and audits.
• Lead client calls to discuss critical areas and apply tax knowledge.
• Manage risk, resources, staffing and budgets across engagements.
• Build client relationships and demonstrate knowledge of client businesses.
• Supervise and mentor Associates, Senior Associates and Managers.
• Oversee workloads and deadlines with focus on quality and efficiency.
• Support business development and identify add-on opportunities.
