Job summary

Iridium is seeking a Director, System Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) for a Space Development Agency program. You will lead a large team of engineers across architecture, systems, modeling and simulation, test and automation to deliver the satellite ground segment from concept to delivery.

You will drive SEIT best practices, manage program reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, ORR), align with strategic goals, and partner with senior leaders to mitigate risks and ensure reliable ground

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering or related field.
• 15+ years of relevant experience in Systems Engineering, Satellite Operations, or Ground Systems Software Development.
• Experience with large scale complex development for US Government national security programs.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to present information and drive discussion across audiences.
• People-oriented mentality, able to motivate and lead a cross-functional team.
• Ability to drive discussions, raise support for key ideas, and manage risk.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.
• Strong sense of urgency to drive projects to completion and deliver outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary team of architecture, systems, modeling & simulation, test and automation, and integration engineers.
• Architect and execute the SEIT strategic vision aligned with program objectives.
• Champion SEIT best practices across the program for efficiency and mission assurance.
• Direct system analyses including functional decomposition, performance modeling, interface definition, and trade studies.
• Lead program reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, ORR) from concept to delivery.
• Oversee development and delivery of complex technical projects, manage shifting priorities and risks.
• Cultivate partnerships with senior leadership to translate requirements into project plans.
• Initiate continuous process improvement across the SEIT lifecycle.
• Direct optimization of operational tools and processes for satellite and ground operations.
• Guide investigations into operational anomalies and implement mitigation strategies.
• Ensure robust configuration management of ground operations procedures and templates.
