Job Description

As the Director of Solution Delivery, you will take ownership of the delivery, adaptability, and optimization outcomes for an executive level product and engineering team. This team owns the design, creation and leadership of an organization that can deliver business outcomes related to multiple Cox Automotive investments to be delivered by four to seven release trains. These investments identify the high-level market problems for the organization to solve. This team will have a laser focus on shaping the organization to achieve short- and long-term business outcomes (current year and future year investments) and will take on the challenges associated with driving an organization to a high performing state.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate the creation and delivery of investments by the delivery stream.
  • Partner with business, engineering, product, and architecture leadership to ensure delivery of investment results within cost and time constraints.
  • Drive governance that ensures roadmap alignment, prioritization, and trade-offs with business partners.
  • Establish and maintain operations that support a continuous planning and rolling forecast cycle to balance delivery flexibility with sustainable predictability through first‑class risk management and agile program management practices.
  • Assess, own, and communicate risks and dependencies across delivery streams and portfolios; remove impediments as needed to get work across the finish line.
  • Evolve the adaptability of the delivery stream by shaping value delivery and driving full utilization of an information architecture that enables scaled agility.
  • Coach VP, AVP, and Director level team members to collaboratively communicate, identify true root causes of issues, and use business priorities to drive organizational focus.
  • Maintain impeccable investment hygiene and ensure all radiated information is reliable, meaningful, and readable.
  • Drive consistent use of metrics to assess risks to delivery and drive prioritization and decision making.
  • Identify and implement solutions that address true root causes of issues or clearly articulate trade‑offs when only symptoms are addressed.
  • Optimize delivery through systemic process improvements that reduce waste and errors, and drive adoption of those optimizations throughout the organization using modern change‑management tactics.
  • Staff the release train engineer and scrum master roles with team members who possess the characteristics, skills, and knowledge to own outcomes at the release train and scrum team levels.
  • Manage release train engineer and scrum master performance to align with the Solution Delivery organization’s vision and annual objectives; ensure they know what outcomes are expected and how they are performing.
  • Deal with performance problems swiftly and consistently, ensuring every employee occupies the “right role / right level.”
  • Lead AI adoption, communicate real business value/ROI, and adhere to AI policies and standards.
  • Use AI‑powered insights to analyze investments and team performance.
  • Drive measurable improvements in delivery speed and adaptability of the organization.
Who You Are (Minimum Qualifications)
  • 10+ years of relevant experience, 5+ years managing and leading employees and complex team efforts.
  • 5+ years of experience leading product delivery teams or equivalent program and program management experience on large, complex technical programs.
  • 3+ years of direct experience successfully driving adoption of enterprise‑wide and local continuous improvement changes with cross‑functional leadership teams and software development teams using Scrum or Kanban.
  • Mastery of the SDLC, demonstrated by expertise on the various phases of work associated with software development.
  • Mastery of the Agile framework, demonstrating ability to achieve positive outcomes associated with agility.
  • Demonstrated success resolving inter‑team / intra‑team conflict and building relationships in a complex team environment.
  • Mastery of industry‑standard Agile Lifecycle Management Tools (e.g., Rally, VersionOne, JIRA, TFS).
  • Advanced skills writing queries and interpreting data (strong Excel or Tableau skills are a plus).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Psychology, or equivalent “learning and development” experience in technology organizations.
