Job summary

Ally Financial in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Director of Software Engineering – Salesforce to lead the engineering strategy and delivery of Ally’s enterprise Salesforce platform. You will partner with Product, Architecture, Security, and business leaders to drive scalable capabilities and measurable value.

You will manage multiple Salesforce teams, set standards for Apex, LWC, Flow, APIs, and CI/CD, and ensure security, compliance, and performance.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in software engineering or platform leadership.
• Experience leading enterprise Salesforce implementations.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS or related field; Salesforce certs preferred.
• Experience in regulated financial services environments.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the Salesforce platform vision, strategy, and roadmap.

This leader will provide strategic and people leadership across Salesforce development teams, with accountability for execution, engineering quality, resource and financial management, and business outcomes.In this role, you will partner with Product, Architecture, Business, Data, Security, and other technology leaders to deliver scalable Salesforce solutions that improve customer and teammate experiences, increase operational efficiency, and support Ally’s broader digital strategy.The Work ItselfDefine and execute the vision, strategy, and roadmap for Ally’s Salesforce platform, aligned with business objectives and measurable outcomes.Lead multiple Salesforce engineering teams, establishing clear expectations for delivery, technical quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.Partner with Product, Architecture, and business leaders to translate strategic priorities into scalable Salesforce capabilities and executable delivery plans.Oversee complex Salesforce programs with accountability for scope, schedule, budget, quality, dependencies, and business outcomes.Guide Salesforce architecture and solution design, balancing configuration, low-code capabilities, custom development, integration, and reuse to reduce unnecessary complexity.Establish and enforce engineering standards for Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flow, APIs, automated testing, code reviews, documentation, secure development, and CI/CD.Ensure Salesforce solutions meet enterprise expectations for security, privacy, accessibility, resiliency, regulatory compliance, performance, and supportability.Lead the effective adoption of Salesforce capabilities, including Service Cloud, Financial Services Cloud, Experience Cloud, Data Cloud, and Agentforce, based on business priorities and measurable value.Manage workforce planning, resource allocation, budgets, vendors, and delivery capacity across employee, contractor, onshore, and offshore teams.Build and develop high-performing engineering managers, technical leaders, developers, administrators, and platform specialists through coaching, feedback, and career development.Communicate platform strategy, delivery progress, investment needs, risks, trade-offs, and recommendations clearly to senior business and technology leaders.The Skills You BringProven experience leading multiple software engineering teams and complex technology initiatives within a large enterprise.Demonstrated ability to define and execute technology strategies and roadmaps aligned with business objectives and measurable outcomes.Strong people leadership experience, including developing engineering managers, technical leaders, and distributed teams.Deep understanding of Salesforce architecture, platform governance, and declarative and programmatic development, including Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flow, security, and data models.Experience with Salesforce products such as Service Cloud, Financial Services Cloud, Experience Cloud, Data Cloud, or Agentforce.Strong knowledge of enterprise integrations, APIs, middleware, OAuth, Salesforce platform limits, automated testing, DevSecOps, CI/CD, and release management.Proven ability to manage complex delivery portfolios, budgets, workforce plans, vendors, technical debt, and competing priorities.Strong executive communication and influencing skills, with the ability to translate business objectives into scalable solutions and clearly explain technical decisions, risks, and trade-offs.The Qualifications We’re Looking For7+ years of experience in software engineering, technology delivery, or platform leadership, including experience leading engineering managers or multiple development teams.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience; Salesforce architecture or development certifications are preferred.Significant experience leading enterprise Salesforce implementations, engineering teams, or platform organizations.Experience delivering customer service, contact center, CRM, or digital servicing solutions within a regulated enterprise or financial services environment.How We'll Have Your BackAlly's compensation program offers market-competitive base pay and pay-for-performance incentives (bonuses) based on achieving personal and company goals.
