Job summary

TransCore, a subsidiary of ST Engineering, seeks a hands-on Director of Software Engineering to lead the Smart Mobility engineering team in Atlanta, GA; Nashville, TN; or Harrisburg, PA. The role owns end-to-end delivery for mobile, backend, integration, and account-management work, shipping reliably, securely, and on cadence, with growth as the product expands.

Qualifications

Substantial software engineering experience (typically 14 years), including leading and managing engineering teams with direct delivery accountability (typically 8 years).
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field; advanced degree a plus.
Track record delivering high-volume, high-availability software in regulated industries (Mobility, FinTech, Logistics, or similar).
Zero to one: experience standing up or scaling engineering organizations and delivery processes from an early stage.
Strong communication skills to lead cross-functional and partner teams.

Responsibilities

End-to-end delivery ownership from staffing and sprint execution through release.
Unify mobile, backend, integration, and account-management work under one delivery plan.
Own release cadence, quality gates, and delivery commitments; manage risks.
Drive reliability and security with PCI-DSS controls and SLOs.
Lead the teams and budgets; hire and develop engineers and leads.
Coordinate with Product, Architecture, and Platform teams; establish shared functions.
Report delivery status and tradeoffs to senior leadership.
