Job summary

TransCore, a subsidiary of ST Engineering, seeks a Sr Software Engineer, Smart Mobility to join our Nashville team. You will design and build cloud-native backend services and APIs in C#/.NET on Azure, and contribute to web experiences on an agile, small team.

The role requires ownership of features from design through production, emphasis on quality, security, and observability, and collaboration with architects, product managers, and QA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in CS/Engineering.
• 10 to 13 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong C# and .NET experience, including ASP.NET Core Web API.
• Design and operate cloud-native applications on Azure, AWS, or GCP, with Azure preferred.
• Practical experience with message queues or event streaming, and distributed systems failure modes.
• Working knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, TLS and mTLS for API security.
• Experience designing scalable systems with caching, partitioning, load distribution, and performance tuning.
• Strong SQL Server or PostgreSQL schema design and query tuning.
• Experience with containers/Docker and CI/CD in Git-based workflows.
• Observability experience with OpenTelemetry and Dynatrace/Grafana.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and operate scalable backend services and APIs in C# and .NET.
• Build cloud-native patterns on Azure and containerized deployments.
• Implement authentication/authorization and secure API design.
• Collaborate on data layer design and migrations across SQL/NoSQL stores.
• Contribute to front-end work with Angular/TypeScript when required.
• Design participation in reviews and document tradeoffs.
• Mentor peers and help set coding standards and patterns.
• Own services in production and participate in on-call rotation.
