The Section of Hematology and Medical Oncology is seeking a Director of the Sickle Cell Program at Boston Medical Center and the Boston University Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine. The Director will oversee clinical and research activities of a large, comprehensive sickle cell program serving patients throughout Boston and the Northeast. Clinical activities are based at Boston Medical Center (BMC), a private, not-for-profit, 514-bed, academic medical center located in Boston's historic South End. With origins stretching back to 1864, Boston Medical Center’s mission is to provide exceptional care without exception – a commitment to care for all people, regardless of their ability to pay. Boston Medical Center is ranked as #4 most racially inclusive hospital in the US (and #1 in Massachusetts) by the Lown Institute. The Director will build on a tradition of excellence in clinical care and research in sickle cell disease, promoting scholarly activities and building clinical, translational and basic research initiatives for the Program. The Director will additionally support and expand clinical trial efforts in sickle cell disease and will oversee the quality and efficiency of the sickle cell clinical program. The Director will report to the Section Chief, Hematology and Medical Oncology and will collaborate with other key stakeholders, including leaders in pediatric hematology, general internal medicine, psychiatry, nephrology, pulmonary/critical care medicine, and the emergency department to establish workflows and best practices that will provide seamless and coordinated care to patients with sickle cell disease seen at Boston Medical Center.

Required Skills

Qualified candidates will possess an MD or MD/PhD and be board eligible or board certified in hematology. Candidates will be licensed or eligible for a medical license in the state of Massachusetts. Academic rank will be based on qualifications and experience.
