UI Health in Chicago, IL seeks a Senior Nursing leader to plan, direct, organize, and evaluate operations of the Short Stay Unit (SSU). This 24x7 role manages staffing, supplies, equipment, and financial performance, guiding physicians, managers, and healthcare staff to deliver efficient patient throughput and high-quality care.

Reporting to the ACNO of Imaging and Diagnostic Services, the incumbent will participate in budgeting, human resources, billing, and regulatory compliance while driving

Qualifications

• Illinois Registered Nursing license is required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required; MSN or related field preferred.
• Minimum five (5) years of clinical nursing management experience with progressive responsibility.
• National ANCC or equivalent certification within 6 months of hire.
• Current CPR/ACLS/PALS and/or other unit-specific certifications.

Responsibilities

• Develops and oversees SSU operations, staffing, supplies, and equipment for 24/7 coverage.
• Ensure quality of care and compliance with licensure, accreditation, and regulatory standards.
• Plan and manage budgets and financial performance for the SSU.
• Provide training oversight and staff development across the unit.
• Collaborate across disciplines to improve patient throughput and outcomes.
