Job summary

The University of Illinois Hospital & Clinics (UI Health) seeks a full-time Director of Patient Care Services for Short Stay Diagnostic Nursing. This role oversees operations, staffing, budgeting and regulatory compliance for 24x7 unit leadership and patient throughput in a fast-paced diagnostic setting.

The ideal candidate will have an Illinois RN license, a BSN, a relevant master’s degree, 5+ years nursing management experience, strong communication, leadership and budgeting skills, and

Qualifications

• Licensed Registered Nurse in Illinois.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required.
• Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business or related field required.
• Minimum 5 years of clinical nursing management with progressive responsibility.
• Strong communication, customer service, decision-making and project management skills.
• Knowledge of budgetary processes, financial principles and regulatory standards.
• National ANCC or equivalent certification within 6 months of hire.
• Current CPR/ACLS/PALS or unit-specific certifications.

Responsibilities

• Develops care coordination utilizing evidence-based practice with patients and families.
• Directs nursing philosophy, policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
• Ensures policies and practices are current and evidence-based.
• Plans and develops nursing operations, staffing, and patient safety improvements.
• Hires, trains, develops, and manages staff to meet objectives.
• Manages budget, capital equipment, and financial performance for the unit.
• Ensures compliance with licensure, accreditation, and regulatory standards.
• Fosters shared leadership and collaboration across disciplines.
