Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree is a plus.
  • 7–10 years in an operational/technical security environment.
  • 3–5 years in a people management role.
  • EMT or other relevant certifications (CPP, CFE, CBCP) a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Leads a team of security representatives and supervisors across locations.
  • Manages staffing coverage with cost and overtime awareness.
  • Enforces policies on operational risk, physical security, and life safety.
  • Builds relationships with business units and external providers to influence security policy.
  • Champions training and life safety programs for the site.
  • Engages in cross-organizational projects and scales global initiatives.
  • Develops regional crisis response plans with site leadership.
  • Delivers local awareness programs and supports global security initiatives.
  • Reviews regional incident reports and follows up as needed.

The Role

The Director, Security Operations is an experienced security professional who can effectively lead teams to protect Fidelity's associates, customers, and property. This individual delivers on Global Security Operations' objectives through their ability to communicate effectively, understand their site's risk landscape, and engage and execute on key initiatives for Security and the firm while exercising good judgement. This individual is a meaningful associate-facing Brand Ambassador for Global Security Operations and will ensure that their team exudes professionalism, integrity, and provides outstanding customer service at their site.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree; advanced degree a plus
  • 7-10 years' experience in an operational and technical security environment
  • 3-5 years' experience in a people manager role
  • EMT or other relevant certifications (CPP, CFE, CBCP) a plus
Responsibilities
  • Effectively leads a team of security representatives and supervisors in one or more locations
  • Ensures schedule maintains required coverage while remaining mindful of staffing costs and overtime
  • Enforces corporate and site-wide policies, procedures, and standards related to operational risk, physical security, and life safety programs
  • Establishes and maintains substantial relationships with business unit personnel, site leadership and external service providers such as public safety agencies to influence security policy implementation and mitigate risk
  • Translates strategic objectives and champions training and life safety programs for their site
  • Engages on cross-organizational projects and scales global initiatives for assigned site(s).
  • Builds, implements, and maintains regional crisis response plans in collaboration with site leadership
  • Develops and Delivers effective local awareness programs and supports broader global security awareness initiatives crafted to educate associates on workplace safety and security best practices
  • Review regional incident reports; recommend and supervise required follow up

  • Knowledge of security principles (incident management, life safety, investigations, workplace violence and threat assessment)
  • Subject matter expertise with Security technology
  • Project management experience
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Understanding of risk and controls
  • Stakeholder and relationship management (communicates effectively with senior security leadership, site/business unit leadership, business partners, and public safety agencies)
  • Vendor management (holds vendors accountable to agreed upon terms and manages to budget constraints)
Fidelity's Onsite Working Model

Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.
