Job summary

Four Seasons Hotel Chicago seeks a dynamic Director of Security to lead all aspects of safety, security, risk management and emergency preparedness. You will protect guests, staff, visitors and assets through proactive leadership and regulatory compliance.

You will oversee a team, implement life‑safety programs, manage security systems, and coordinate with law enforcement and emergency services. Excellence in guest service and discretion is essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead hotel security, safety, and risk management operations.
• Oversee Security team recruitment, training, scheduling and performance.

• Lead crisis management, investigations, and incident response activities.
• Oversee fire and life safety programs, drills, inspections, and evacuations.
• Conduct risk assessments, security audits, and safety inspections.
• Manage CCTV, access control, alarm systems and key control.
• Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with laws, OSHA and company standards.
• Partner with leadership to advise on security matters.
• Serve as liaison with law enforcement and emergency services.
• Support VIP guests and events with security assessments.
• Manage budgets, staffing and equipment for the department.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Security to lead all aspects of hotel safety, security, risk management, and emergency preparedness. This role is responsible for protecting guests, employees, visitors, and assets through proactive leadership, regulatory compliance, incident management, and the development of a strong culture of safety and security across the property.

What You Will Do

• Lead all hotel security, safety, and risk management operations to protect guests, employees, visitors, and property.


• Manage, develop, and oversee the Security team, including hiring, training, scheduling, coaching, and performance management.


• Develop and implement security, life safety, emergency response, and business continuity programs.


• Lead emergency preparedness efforts, crisis management, investigations, and incident response activities.


• Oversee fire and life safety programs, including compliance, drills, inspections, and evacuation procedures.


• Conduct regular risk assessments, security audits, and safety inspections to identify and mitigate potential risks.


• Manage security systems, including CCTV, access control, alarm systems, and key control procedures.


• Investigate security incidents, workplace injuries, accidents, and other safety-related events, implementing corrective actions as needed.


• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, OSHA requirements, and company standards.


• Partner with hotel leadership to provide expert guidance on security, safety, and risk management matters.


• Serve as the primary liaison with law enforcement, emergency services, and regulatory agencies.


• Support VIP guests, special events, and operational planning through security assessments and protection measures.


• Manage departmental budgets, staffing levels, equipment, and operational resources.


• Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and exceptional guest service throughout the property.

What We Are Looking For

• Current or recent experience as a Director of Security within a luxury hotel environment


• Proven experience managing complex security operations involving VIPs, high net worth individuals, diplomats, and international guests


• Strong knowledge of security operations, occupational health and safety, fire and life safety, emergency preparedness, and risk management


• Experience leading crisis management and emergency response situations


• Strong understanding of CCTV operations, access control systems, investigations, and asset protection


• Experience conducting audits, inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations


• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills


• Strong commercial awareness and operational decision making abilities


• High levels of integrity, professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality


• Previous Police, Military, Government Security, Corporate Security, or Luxury Hospitality Security experience is highly advantageous


• Excellent spoken and written English
