Job summary

Morgan Stanley is seeking a Director in Shared Services and Banking Operations to serve as a Risk Manager, documenting, measuring, analyzing, and mitigating operational risk. The role partners with business units to develop controls and support client relationships across the firm’s Operations division.

The position is within Risk, Regulatory & Resilience in Baltimore, offering opportunities to lead, train, and participate in audits and regulatory reviews while advancing the firm’s risk

Job description

We’re seeking someone to join our team as a Director in Shared Services and Banking Operations to act as a Risk Manager and play a key role to document, measure, analyze and mitigate Operational Risk.

In the Operations division, we partner with business units across the Firm to support financial transactions, devise and implement effective controls and develop client relationships.

This is a Team Specialist position at the P3 Director level within Risk, Regulatory & Resilience, which performs various independent functions to ensure adequate controls are in place. We do this by providing an integrated risk and control framework to govern, assess, mitigate and manage financial and operational risk in Operations.

What you’ll do in the role:
  • Serve as a subject matter expert within functional area, working with Team Manager to manage processes, risks and/or projects, proposing and implementing improvements/changes
  • Act as key problem solver for area or expertise, applying detailed knowledge to address unique or novel situations, recognize risks and draw out key issues
  • Coordinate work, train and develop other team members where required, including task allocation, and project contribution
  • Provide oversight and execution of a range of activities such as process and control documentation and ensuring supervisory procedures are in place
  • Participate in periodic internal audits, compliance exams, and external regulatory reviews through the entire life-cycles
What you’ll bring to the role:
  • Ability to lead by example, work with drive and determination, and put forward challenging views to senior levels
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of functional area and operational/compliance policies and procedures of their team
  • Ability to operate independently across the majority of day-to-day responsibilities

  • Experience applying risk management precepts such as separation of duties, information security disciplines, and supervisory reviews
  • Ability to communicate effectively and confidently across all levels
  • At least 4 years’ relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role

Salary range for the position: $64,000.00 - $107,500.00/Yr. The successful candidate may be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive compensation award. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
