We are looking for a Director of Respiratory Therapy who will manage the Respiratory Care Services departments, ensuring high-quality patient care and measurable returns for the organization, community, and physicians.
Responsibilities
- Directs the clinical and non-clinical aspects of Respiratory Care Services.
- Ensures high-quality patient care and generates measurable returns for the organization.
- Plans, organizes, and evaluates all departmental resources.
- Oversees program development, staff supervision, budget management, and regulatory compliance.
- Maintains relationships with physicians, referral sources, and employees.
- Performs position-specific job functions at an acceptable level.
- Supports the mission and goals of the hospital and parent company.
- Develops and maintains clinical standards of practice for all disciplines.
- Supports and participates in marketing efforts and community service organizations.
- Maintains up-to-date professional knowledge.
- Interprets the philosophy/objectives of Respiratory Care Services to staff, clients, families, and the community.
- Is accessible to staff 24 hours per day, unless otherwise designated.
- Assures that budget projections are met annually.
- Intervenes and mediates in management conflicts/problems.
- Enhances Respiratory Care Services’ relationship with other hospital departments, including physician relations and staff development.
- Assumes full responsibility for the functioning of all Respiratory Care Services departments.
- Assumes overall responsibility/accountability for the Respiratory Care Services Quality Improvement Program.
- Communicates incidents, sentinel events, complaints, and other untoward circumstances through the QI system to the COO.
- Develops short and long-range management and organizational plans.
- Develops an annual management plan for Respiratory Care Services.
- Prepares and presents operational and financial reports.
- Directs, plans, organizes, and assures the implementation of all clinical and administrative activities.
- Assures appropriate budget preparation and management.
- Assures that policies and procedures reflect current practices and are consistent with regulatory agency guidelines/mandates.
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to cost-effective management practices.
- Assumes a leadership role in the coordination of medical and safety emergencies.
- Is responsive to medical staff and department head expressed concerns.
- Achieves and maintains harmonious relationships with managers, medical staff, other employees, and the public.
- Provides for professional growth/development of staff and provides incentives for advancement within the organization.
- Interprets public policy, economic developments, and public opinion in meeting organizational goals.
- Directs maintenance of physical facilities and property.
- Maintains accreditation and licensure standards of regulatory agencies.
- Serves as the primary representative to third parties such as examiners, reimbursors, and planning agencies.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the COO.
- Assures adequate supervision for all department(s) staff, including recognition and affirmation.
- Assures that adequate, qualified staff is available.
- Promotes and facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Provides administrative direction for the recruitment, employment, development, and termination of employees.
- Approves performance appraisals and wage modifications.
- Reviews and resolves employee grievances.
- Maintains responsibility for medical staff relations.
- Completes annual competencies within the appropriate timeframe.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree – Required
- 5+ years experience in Respiratory Therapy – Preferred
- State of NH Respiratory Care Practitioner License – Required
