Job summary

The University of Pennsylvania seeks a Director C, Business and Finance, Research Services to lead the Department of Surgery’s research operations across PSOM and affiliated hospitals. You will oversee budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance for a $26M+ portfolio and support $8M+ in annual funding.

You will manage pre- and post-award administration, and drive efficient operations, staffing, and resource allocation in partnership with the CFO and faculty.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science and 7–10 years of experience or equivalent mix of education and experience.
• Master’s degree preferred; grant-funded environment experience is a plus.
• Strong budgeting, reporting, and compliance capabilities required.

Responsibilities

• Lead budgeting, financial reporting, and analysis for the department’s research portfolio.
• Oversee pre- and post-award administration across PSOM and affiliated hospitals.
• Ensure regulatory submissions (IRB, IACUC, RIS) are compliant and timely.
• Collaborate with faculty and leadership to optimize internal processes and staffing.
