The University of Wisconsin–Madison seeks an outstanding scientist to serve as a staff member for MATRIX_MIP and the Hard Materials Lab (HML), newly established NSF centers focused on materials for extreme environments.

The successful candidate will lead HML operations and the MATRIX-MIP user program, supervise a team of six staff, help design the facility, and coordinate user training, with heavy engagement in NSF reporting and collaboration across labs.

Formación

• Minimum of 5 years of lab experience focused on bulk synthesis and characterization of structural materials.
• Preferred: experience with bulk synthesis and characterization in extreme/high-temperature environments.
• One year of personnel management experience is preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Serve as consultant to project directors and provide technical expertise to research and operations.
• Determine unit personnel needs and allocate staff resources.
• Plan and manage strategic initiatives for a recognized center or program.
• Manage large research projects for the institution.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholder groups to foster cross-unit partnerships.
• Lead MATRIX-MIP user program and oversee proposal submission and review.
