The University of Wisconsin–Madison is seeking an Instrumentation Engineer I to support the HARD Materials Lab (HML) and MATRIX-MIP, a new NSF center for structural materials research in extreme environments.

The role includes startup activities, facility design, equipment evaluation/acquisition, and developing user training programs. You will ensure instrument performance, assist internal/external users, and contribute to best practices and training materials.

Formación

• Minimum of 3 years of lab experience focused on bulk synthesis and characterization of structural materials.
• Experience with high-temperature structural environments is preferred.
• Experience with instrument maintenance/repair and development of training materials.

Responsabilidades

• Identify problems and provide solution options in support of decisions.
• Coordinate project activities and ensure timely progress.
• Design, construct, integrate, test, calibrate, document, and improve instrumentation systems.
• Provide expertise in design and modeling using computer-aided design tools.
• Prepare reports on design status and technical research for reviews and sponsors.
• Support development of new processes and techniques for advanced instrumentation.
