Job summary

University of Iowa, via Information Technology Services (ITS), seeks an Associate Director or Director of Research Services to shape how technology supports research across the university. You will lead a team delivering HPC, research storage, Linux-based infrastructure, and other platforms, guiding engagement, training, and service management for researchers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Experience with IT in research computing environments (HPC, storage, Linux-based infrastructure).
• Strong customer service orientation and ability to communicate with diverse stakeholders.
• Proven track record leading technical teams and managing cross-functional initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Research Services team, set priorities, coach staff, evaluate performance, and support development.
• Oversee day-to-day delivery of research computing and researcher support services.
• Establish service expectations, monitor performance, address escalations, improve researcher communication.
• Plan and coordinate projects and service improvements.
• Build relationships with researchers, departments, campus IT partners, and governance groups; lead HPC Policy and Investor Committee.
