Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium in Omaha, Nebraska, seeks a Director of Reproductive Sciences and Conservation Genetics to lead applied scientific programs across both the Zoo and Safari Park. You will oversee a team of researchers and technicians, develop strategic plans, and align activities with AZA TAG and SSP recommendations.

The ideal candidate holds an advanced degree and has proven leadership in complex scientific programs, with a track record of securing grants and publishing work

Formación

• Advanced degree required (PhD, DVM or equivalent).
• Minimum 2 years of leadership experience overseeing a complex scientific program with researchers and staff.
• Ability to secure federal, state, or other government grants.
• Strong record of peer-reviewed publications and contributions to wildlife conservation science.
• Knowledge of applicable regulations and guidelines for reproductive sciences in zoological settings.

Responsabilidades

• Lead multi-disciplinary, integrated efforts for scientific advancement aligned with conservation goals.
• Oversee budgets, ongoing tracking, and annual planning; approve expenditures.
• Grow research and conservation partnerships across internal and external entities.
• Develop strategic business plans to maximize laboratory capacity and revenue opportunities.
• Collaborate with Animal Care, Animal Health and Education to integrate reproductive/genetic sciences into collection management and training programs.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements (CITES, USFW, etc.).
