Job summary

BDO USA, LLP is seeking a Valuation & Capital Markets Analytics Director to lead valuation engagements from proposal through completion, manage staff, and contribute to business development and appraisal reviews.

The role requires extensive Real Estate valuation experience, leadership and communication skills, with travel as needed and a strong track record in client service. National range is $190,000–$240,000, with similar spreads in major markets.

Qualifications

  • Ten or more years of Real Estate business valuation experience in a Big 4 or national valuation firm environment, most recently in a management capacity.
  • Significant experience in business valuation and intangible assets, required.
  • Prior experience in tax and financial reporting valuation, required.
  • Track record of generating new business

Responsibilities

  • Leads and delivers challenging valuation engagements from proposal through project completion.
  • Manages staff and mentors peers on valuation assignments.
  • Participates in internal and external client meetings and business development.
  • Ensures quality controls and prepares narrative reports and supporting exhibits
  • Supervises Senior Managers and Managers on engagements and reviews work product
  • Acts as Career Advisor and provides performance feedback

Job Summary:

The Valuation & Capital Markets Analytics Director is responsible for leading, executing and delivery of challenging valuation engagements by participating in all aspects of projects, from the initial proposal preparation, through project completion. In this role, the Director is actively engaged in the management of business valuation assignments and managing staff in the development of such assignments. In addition, the Valuation & Capital Markets Analytics Director will be charged with leading business development activities and appraisal reviews.

Job Duties:
  • Performs related company, industry and economic research
  • Analyzes client financial statements
  • Constructs financial models
  • Assesses operational profitability and financial conditions
  • Develops and reviews cash flow forecasts
  • Performs benchmark analysis
  • Documents and maintains all appropriate aspects of work product
  • Composes narrative reports in support of valuation analyses
  • Prepares necessary exhibits and memos in illustration of complex issues
  • Ensures quality controls are adhered in association with all work products
  • Participates in internal and external client meetings
  • Assists and provides guidance to peers and staff members in the development of project plans and timelines for deliverables
  • Other duties as required
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Supervises the day-to-day workload of Valuation & Business Analytics Senior Managers and Managers on assigned engagements and reviews work product
  • Ensures Senior Managers and Managers are proficient on all relevant valuation databases and models.
  • Evaluates the performance of Senior Managers and Managers and assists in the development of goals and objectives to enhance professional development
  • Delivers periodic performance feedback and completes performance evaluations for Senior Managers and Managers
  • Acts as Career Advisor to Senior Managers and Managers, as appropriate
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, required
  • Master's in Business Administration (MBA), preferred
Experience:
  • Ten (10) or more years of Real Estate business valuation experience in a Big 4 or national valuation firm environment, most recently in a management capacity, required
  • Significant experience in business valuation and intangible assets, required
  • Prior experience in tax and financial reporting valuation, required
  • Track record of generating new business, required
License/Certifications:
  • CPA, CFA, AM, ASA or other valuation industry credentials, preferred
Software:
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, PowerPoint and Word, required
  • Prior experience with Capital IQ and/or Bloomberg, preferred
Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Superior analytical and research skills
  • Solid organizational skills especially ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details
  • Ability to successfully multi-task while working independently or within a group environment
  • Proven ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Capable of effective managing a team of valuation professionals and delegating work assignments as needed
  • Capacity to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and client personnel
  • Ability to encourage team environment on engagements and contribute to the professional development of assigned personnel
  • Executive presence and ability to act as primary contact on assigned engagements
  • Ability to successfully interact with professionals at all levels
  • Ability for intermittent travel within the US and internationally required

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

National Range: $190,000 - $240,000
Maryland Range: $190,000 - $240,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $190,000 - $240,000
