Job summary

EMD Serono, Inc. is seeking a Director of R&D and Medical Governance Operations to support the Head CMO Governance & Operations. This role oversees governance processes, vendor coordination, and data systems while leading R&D sustainability initiatives aligned with ESG commitments.

You will drive planning, coordination, and reporting across R&D, ensuring compliance, audit readiness, and effective cross-functional collaboration within a global matrix organization.

Qualifications

• Degree in Medicine or Life Sciences required; advanced degree preferred.
• 8–12 years in clinical R&D, Medical Affairs, or similar functions in international matrix orgs.
• Experience in governance design, stakeholder management, and multi-workstream programmes.
• Familiarity with ESG/CSR frameworks (GHG Protocol, CSRD, SBTi) is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Owns and executes operational backbone for CMO-GO.
• Orchestrates R&D Sustainability projects across functions.
• Maintains governance docs, data systems, and training completion.
• Drives planning, coordination, and reporting of ESG initiatives.
• Ensures audit readiness and regulatory compliance.
