Job summary

Pfizer is seeking a Director, R&D EHS Program Lead to serve as the GWE R&D principal authority on industrial hygiene and EHS within research operations. This role leads a global EHS Community of Practice, partners with enterprise EHS and SEO, and delivers portfolio-wide visibility into EHS performance.

The role requires a track record of senior leadership, deep IH expertise, and the ability to influence across locations, functions, and cultures in a large global organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial/occupational hygiene, environmental/occupational health, chemistry, engineering, or a closely related scientific discipline.
• 10+ years of progressive industrial-hygiene and EHS experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or another life sciences/high-hazard, regulated environment.
• Deep, demonstrable expertise in industrial hygiene — exposure assessment, monitoring and sampling, OELs/OEBs, hazard/control banding, and engineering-control evaluation — in laboratory and R&D settings.
• Demonstrated Director-level EHS leadership across multiple sites at an above-site or enterprise level.
• Proven ability to lead, influence and drive outcomes without solid-line authority.

Responsibilities

• Principal industrial-hygiene authority: lead the anticipation, recognition, evaluation and control of exposure hazards across all sites.
• R&D Leadership Team member: drive transformative action to reduce EHS risk and elevate performance.
• Exposure-assessment program: design and govern exposure-assessment programs across air, surface and personal monitoring.
• Potent-compound & hazard control: lead hazard and control banding for high-hazard work and novel molecules.
• Engineering controls & containment verification: oversee ventilation, fume hoods, isolators and containment systems.
