Job summary

SystImmune is seeking a Director of Protein Engineering for a full-time position in Redmond, WA. The role involves team management and making key program decisions in the company's antibody and ADC pipeline.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD, extensive industry experience, and a proven track record in yeast display technology. The position offers a salary range of approximately $180,000 – $240,000 annually plus comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• PhD in protein engineering, biochemistry, structural biology, molecular biology, bioengineering or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of industry experience in biologics drug discovery and development.
• Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience with yeast display, including library design and construction.
• Demonstrated experience building or advancing a yeast display platform.
• Track record leading and developing a team of scientists and research associates.
• Delivered engineered binders or therapeutic leads into a biologics pipeline.
• Strong working knowledge of antibody and binder formats.
• Experience leading display campaigns alongside complementary discovery modalities.
• Excellent scientific judgment and ability to make timely calls on campaign strategy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of scientists and research associates.
• Build team structure, hiring plans and resource allocation.
• Establish operating rhythms like project and technical reviews.
• Own and advance the next-generation yeast display platform.
• Drive integration of the yeast display platform with the FUSE automation lab.
• Define platform performance metrics and lead continuous improvement.
• Evaluate and onboard new technologies.
• Direct discovery and engineering campaigns for antibodies and ADC components.
• Represent FUSE on project teams and ensure data quality.
• Stay current on protein engineering and lab automation.
