Director Project Manager – Healthcare Construction

Turner & Townsend is undergoing significant expansion with substantial investments in new projects. We are looking for a senior leader, or Director of Construction Project Management with healthcare experience to establish and lead our Sacramento market. The ideal candidate should have experience with large-scale healthcare construction projects and OSHPD expertise.

The Director of Project Management will lead and develop a team of Project Managers and oversee the delivery of project management services on major projects and programs in the healthcare sector. This individual will be based in our insert office and will be responsible for ensuring service excellence in terms of service delivery, continued growth of our project management service offering including client engagement and market outreach.

The successful candidate will be a driven leader with great interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities:
  1. Strong leadership skills, experience leading a project management team, ensuring they deliver on all accountabilities.
  2. Lead communications with the client and oversight of project management team services.
  3. Lead research related to construction market conditions, including analysis of official published data.
  4. Produce thought leadership reports providing valuable insights to the construction market.
  5. Lead the strategic and operational management of Project Management Services in various sectors, including resource planning, financial management, business development, and training and development.
  6. Set a clear strategy and ambition with the team in line with our Business Plan.
  7. Grow and develop exceptional people, promoting a culture of learning, respect, and inclusivity.
  8. Knowledge management – Ensure key information and learning from each project are inputted into internal databases and shared.
  9. Process improvement – Identify and implement ways to improve internal systems and processes.
  10. Quality Control – Ensure compliance with quality standards and participate in ISO audits.
  11. Develop priority plans including risk mitigation, performance measurements via KPIs, appraisal documents, management controls, and critical success factors based on company goals.
  12. Undertake internal BMS audits, and coordinate and represent the office for external audits.
  13. Develop a detailed understanding of the market, acting as a brand ambassador and creating a pipeline of opportunities with existing and new clients.
  14. Identify and act upon cross-selling opportunities.
  15. Participate in meetings with senior leadership, directors, and staff; prepare and deliver presentations.
  16. Financial Management – Track ongoing revenue, margins, and resource requirements using internal software.
  17. Prepare proposals and RFP responses for new clients/projects.
  18. Attend relevant networking events and promotional opportunities.
  19. Support the training and mentorship of current staff and promote career growth.
  20. Partner with talent acquisition to attract top talent and plan for future staffing needs.
  21. Drive a one-business culture that achieves great outcomes balancing the needs of people, clients, stakeholders, and society.
  22. SOX control responsibilities as applicable.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, or related field.
  • Graduate degree preferred.
  • Membership in relevant professional organizations.
  • 12+ years of relevant construction project management experience.
  • 2+ years managing large, high-performing multidisciplinary teams in consulting.
  • Strong understanding of the construction project lifecycle.
  • Proven experience in healthcare construction projects and project management service delivery.
  • Ability to build strong relationships internally and externally.
  • Experience managing teams of project managers and support staff.
  • Relevant consulting experience.
  • Knowledge of the local construction market.
  • Excellent business development skills and experience in driving growth.
  • Technical and leadership experience overseeing major projects or programs.
  • Excellent presentation, verbal, written, organizational, and communication skills.
  • OSHPD experience is required.
  • Experience with HCAI Permitting Process.

The salary range for this full-time role is $180K-$200K per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Turner & Townsend reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range.
