Job summary

City of Hope in Atlanta is seeking a Director of Project Management to lead high-priority operational initiatives across Patient Services and outpatient operations, translating strategic priorities into structured project plans with clear timelines and ownership.

The role partners with clinicians, operational leaders, and executives to drive collaboration, governance, performance tracking, and sustainable improvements that elevate patient experience and operational effectiveness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field required.
  • 10+ years of experience in healthcare operations, project management, performance improvement, organizational transformation, or operational leadership.
  • 5+ years of leadership/management experience in healthcare operations or related areas.
  • Proven experience leading complex, cross-functional projects within a healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee strategic operational initiatives for Patient Services and outpatient operations from planning through implementation, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and priorities.
  • Manage project governance, timelines, milestones, risks, resources, and stakeholder accountability while providing executive-level reporting and decision support.
  • Partner with operational leaders, clinicians, frontline teams, and cross-functional departments to drive collaboration, resolve barriers, and maintain alignment across initiatives.
  • Support Lean Management and continuous improvement efforts by empowering teams to identify opportunities, implement solutions, measure outcomes, and sustain improvements.
  • Utilize operational data, performance metrics, and business analysis to guide prioritization, track results, support decision-making, and evaluate project success.
  • Coordinate implementation readiness for new workflows, operational changes, staffing initiatives, clinic models, and service expansions, including training, communication, and go-live support.
  • Conduct post-implementation reviews, capture lessons learned, and ensure sustainable improvements that enhance operational performance, patient experience, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, continuous improvement, and frontline ownership while serving as a trusted advisor and connector between leadership and operational teams.

The Director of Project Management is responsible for leading and coordinating high-priority operational initiatives across City of Hope Atlanta. This role reports to the Executive Director, Transformation and Project Management and serves as a key partner in translating strategic and operational priorities into structured project plans, clear timelines, defined ownership, measurable outcomes, and sustainable workflows. The Director will help create a more reliable operating rhythm for project intake, prioritization, governance, communication, performance tracking, risk escalation, and implementation follow-through.

The successful candidate:

  • Lead and oversee strategic operational initiatives for Patient Services and outpatient operations from planning through implementation, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and priorities.

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field required.
  • 10+ years of experience in healthcare operations, project management, performance improvement, organizational transformation, or operational leadership.
  • 5+ years of leadership/management experience in healthcare operations or related areas.
  • Proven experience leading complex, cross-functional projects within a healthcare environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience collaborating with physicians, clinical leaders, operational leaders, frontline teams, and executive stakeholders.
  • Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, Organizational Leadership, Project Management, or related field.
  • PMP, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Lean, Change Management, or related certifications preferred.
  • Experience in oncology, ambulatory operations, academic medicine, specialty care, access/scheduling, or service line growth.
  • Background supporting large-scale operational change, clinic redesign, workflow standardization, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Experience developing business cases, implementation plans, governance frameworks, and executive presentations.
