Job summary

Mayo Clinic is seeking a senior Facilities Project Manager to oversee multiple capital projects in Phoenix/Scottsdale. Lead project teams, manage budgets up to $100 million, and drive design through occupancy with a focus on quality and timelines.

The role requires a four-year degree plus extensive experience in construction management, with PMP and LEED credentials preferred. On-site work in Phoenix, with long-term career growth and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Four-year college degree in project or construction management, engineering, architecture or related field, plus 10 years post-academic experience.
  • Master’s degree and 12 years’ post-academic experience managing large scale organization or health-care related design and construction phases for projects, including estimating, contract and construction documentation administration.
  • Estimating experience and understanding of various project delivery systems required.
  • Ability to administer contracts and construction documents required.
  • Demonstrated organizational and communication skills; proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets and scheduling software.
  • LEED certification preferred. PMP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide management oversight, direction and mentoring to project management staff and other campus/facilities management staff.
  • Achieve cost, schedule and quality objectives of projects as assigned by the Division Chair.
  • Advise Chair and staff on project progress and coordinate with internal/external groups through all project phases.
  • Ensure user group needs are addressed during design and apprises users of progress.
  • Establish vision, policies and continuous quality initiatives for assigned groups; monitor financial performance to align with goals.

Responsibilities

This individual is responsible for providing management oversight, direction, and mentoring to project management staff as well as other campus and facilities management staff assigned. Responsible for achieving the cost, schedule and quality objectives of projects, as assigned by the Division Chair. Advises Chair and administrative staff of project progress, and works proactively with internal and external groups to successfully manage all phases of the process which includes initiation, programming, approvals, design, construction and occupancy. Collaboratively, with the Director of Planning and Design, ensures that user group needs are addressed during design phase and apprises users of project progress during design and construction phases. Capable of timely decision making and building unique teams comprised of internal groups and outside resources. Manages assigned multiple Facilities projects simultaneously, from work orders to $100million +, for all project phases. Must be able to work effectively in a team environment. The responsibilities of this position may require the individual to provide off-hours general oversight of assigned projects. Establishes vision, policies, procedures and continuous quality initiatives for assigned groups. Evaluates performance of Section and makes recommendations and adjustments to staffing for optimal performance. Promotes professionalism within the Section. Monitors and is responsible for financial performance of Section and makes adjustments to align with financial goals of the institution, while maintaining high quality service. Interprets regulatory standards as they apply to the operation of the units and implements required processes for compliance.

Qualifications

Four-year college degree in project or construction management, engineering, architecture or related field, plus 10 years post-academic experience

managing design and construction phases for projects is a minimum.; Or, a Master’s degree and 12 years’ post-academic experience managing large scale organization or health-care related design and construction phases for projects, which includes estimating, contract and construction documentation administration experience.

Estimating experience and a thorough understanding of various project delivery systems required. Ability to administer contracts and construction documents required. Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to effectively balance the workload of various projects simultaneously. demonstrated communication/interpersonal skills, ability to compose correspondence and memoranda and knowledge of word processing, spread sheet and scheduling computer programs required. Must remain current in the project and construction management industry, regarding processes, technology, and project delivery methods. Demonstrated project management skills and initiative.

LEED certification preferred. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
