Job summary

Aventia in Madison, NJ is seeking a Director of Project Accounting to lead all aspects of project financial operations, from setup and budgeting to forecasting, invoicing, and closeout. This role ensures accurate revenue recognition, contract compliance, and actionable financial insight across project lifecycles.

The position partners with Project Managers, Finance, and Operations to optimize project profitability, develop standard processes, and drive continuous improvement across offices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• 10+ years of progressive project accounting experience, including leadership, preferably in A/E, consulting, or professional services.
• Strong knowledge of revenue recognition, contract accounting, and WIP management.
• Experience with ERP systems (Deltek Vision/Vantagepoint preferred).
• Ability to lead, develop, and scale a high-performing team.

Responsibilities

• Oversee project accounting operations from setup to closeout.
• Lead and develop the project accounting team.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and revenue recognition across projects.
• Manage estimates, forecasting, and invoicing processes.
