Job Summary:
The Director of Programmatic plays a key leadership role within the Programmatic Team, supporting the AVP of Programmatic in the strategy, execution, and evolution of Carnegie’s programmatic advertising efforts. This role helps drive the day-to-day success of the Programmatic Team through mentorship, operational guidance, and a hands-on approach to campaign oversight and innovation. The Director ensures that programmatic campaigns—spanning display, video, and audio—are expertly executed while helping to evolve Carnegie’s offerings and uphold best-in-class practices for our higher education clients.
Responsibilities:
Programmatic Strategy & Execution
- Support the AVP of Programmatic in executing Carnegie’s programmatic advertising strategy across platforms and client verticals
- Oversee and contribute to the setup, optimization, and performance of display, video, and audio campaigns in DV360 and other DSPs
- Directly manage higher-spend campaigns, applying advanced strategies to maximize performance and ROI
- Ensure adherence to best practices across all campaigns and identify opportunities for innovation or improvement
- Collaborate closely with team members to troubleshoot issues and refine campaign tactics
- Partner with the AVP of Programmatic to evaluate and test new DSPs, tools, and products
- Contribute to the development and rollout of improved processes and technologies to enhance execution, optimization, and reporting
- Monitor industry trends and bring forward ideas that support continuous growth and innovation
- Build relationships with platform reps to stay informed on emerging capabilities that can benefit client campaigns
Team Development & Operations
- Act as a mentor and resource to Programmatic Team members, offering guidance, support, and informal training
- Assist with onboarding new hires and identifying skill-building opportunities for existing team members
- Help assess team workload, address operational challenges, and ensure efficient campaign execution
- Promote a collaborative, high-performing culture within the Programmatic Team and across the Digital Division
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Support the AVP of Programmatic with team oversight, performance evaluations, and feedback
- Contribute to hiring decisions, onboarding processes, and career development planning
- Help uphold quality standards and ensure client deliverables are met or exceeded
- May directly manage 1–3 employees depending on team structure and needs
Qualifications:
- Deep knowledge of programmatic media buying, including display, audio, and streaming advertising
- Proficiency with Google DV360 and/or other major DSPs
- Strong leadership and mentorship capabilities with the ability to balance team support and tactical execution
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate strategy, data insights, and recommendations
- Analytical mindset with experience optimizing based on KPIs and interpreting performance data
- Comfortable managing multiple projects in a fast-paced, remote work environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to new technologies
- Must be able to work at a computer for prolonged periods
