Job description

At Abivax, our purpose is simple: to improve patients' lives. As a global clinical-stage biotechnology company with headquarter in Paris and offices in the United States, we are advancing innovative therapies for people living with chronic inflammatory diseases.

We are looking for talented, purpose-driven individuals who want their work to have a meaningful impact. Every day, we challenge ourselves to ask: "How did I make a patient's life better today?" If that question inspires and motivates you, we invite you to join our team.

The Director of Professional Education will develop and execute U.S. commercial peer-to-peer education programs that support healthcare professional understanding of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), unmet patient needs, and evolving treatment approaches. Reporting to the Head of Commercial Medical Communications, this individual will translate educational priorities into coordinated personal and non-personal learning experiences that support launch readiness and long-term brand objectives.

This role will manage personal peer-to-peer education, including in-person speaker programs, live virtual programs, and interactive expert-led discussions, as well as non-personal peer-to-peer education, including on-demand expert videos, recorded learning modules, and digital educational series. The individual will oversee program content development, faculty readiness, channel execution, and measurement in partnership with HCP Marketing, Thought Leader Engagement, Medical Affairs, Commercial Training, and Sales Leadership.

The role will focus on company-sponsored commercial education, with disease-state and any future product education executed within approved scope and appropriate to the therapy's regulatory status. The Head of Commercial Medical Communications will provide overall strategic direction and alignment with broader scientific communications priorities.

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions
Integrated Professional Education Planning
  • Develop an annual peer-to-peer education plan that connects audience needs, learning objectives, faculty, content, channels, and measurement to commercial priorities.
  • Use thought leader insights, customer research, field feedback, and program results to identify educational gaps and prioritize topics for gastroenterology and IBD audiences.
  • Design coordinated learning journeys across live and on-demand formats, tailoring content depth, delivery, and follow-up to healthcare professional needs and preferences.
  • Help translate validated insights into engagement priorities, disease-state education topics, and launch readiness plans; track resulting actions and feedback.
  • Manage the execution of in-person and live virtual speaker programs, regional educational meetings, and interactive expert-led discussions.
  • Partner with the Head of Commercial Medical Communications and HCP Marketing to identify educational needs and provide customer input on approved program content and formats.
  • Oversee the execution of commercial disease-state education campaign, including operating plans, faculty onboarding, training coordination, program scheduling, and quality monitoring.
  • Partner with Thought Leader Engagement to identify qualified faculty and maintain speaker readiness; coordinate with Commercial Training on approved content and delivery expectations.
  • Equip field teams with approved program resources, invitation materials, and execution guidance; coordinate with Sales Leadership and Commercial Operations on program needs and delivery.
  • Develop and deploy on-demand expert videos, recorded webinars, case-based modules, podcasts, and other approved digital peer-to-peer learning formats.
  • Partner with HCP Marketing and digital teams to distribute faculty-led education through appropriate channels, including HCP websites, email, and third-party professional platforms.
Content Development and Faculty Preparation
  • Manage agencies and faculty through content briefing, development, review, production, and updates, aligned with educational objectives and the approved scientific narrative.
  • Coordinate internal review and approval of presentations, discussion guides, recordings, invitations, and supporting assets; maintain version control and retire outdated materials.
  • Prepare faculty to deliver approved content clearly and consistently, facilitate discussion within program scope, and route questions through established processes.
  • Partner with Medical Affairs on appropriate scientific input and coordination while maintaining clear functional ownership and boundaries.
Program Operations and Performance
  • Manage assigned budgets, agencies, production partners, and education platforms; track forecasts, timelines, deliverables, and program quality.
  • Work with internal partners to complete faculty contracting, permissions for recorded content and reuse, and required program documentation.
  • Track audience reach, attendance, participation, content completion, learner feedback, and learning outcomes where feasible; use findings to recommend program and channel improvements.
  • Follow established review, speaker selection, training, contracting, and reporting processes; elevate execution or content concerns to the appropriate internal partners.
Qualifications
Required
  • 8 or more years of relevant biopharmaceutical experience, including substantial responsibility for thought leader engagement strategy, complex cross-functional initiatives, and program or budget ownership.
Preferred

Additionally, candidates must possess at least 3 years of leadership experience, including direct people management and/or leading complex cross-functional initiatives within a biopharmaceutical or healthcare environment. Demonstrated success building high-performing teams, influencing senior stakeholders, managing resources, and driving execution across multiple functions is required. Leadership experience may be concurrent with the required commercial and marketing experience.

Technical Skills
  • Experience in gastroenterology, immunology, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), or other specialty care markets strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing speaker bureaus or faculty-led education, including speaker training, agency oversight, program operations, and performance evaluation.
  • Ability to translate clinical evidence and disease science into accurate, engaging educational content for healthcare professional audiences within approved scope.
  • Working knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design, and adaptation of content for live, virtual, and on-demand learning.
  • Experience with digital content production, HCP channel planning, and analytics; ability to connect educational objectives to practical measures of program effectiveness.
  • Strong project management, budget management, and vendor management skills, with attention to content approval, documentation, and execution requirements.
Core Competencies
  • Collaborates effectively across Commercial, Medical Affairs, and review partners, with sound judgment and clear accountability.
  • Builds productive working relationships with faculty, field teams, agencies, and internal stakeholders; influences decisions without direct authority.
  • Communicates clearly, presents actionable recommendations, and balances educational quality with operational discipline.
  • Manages competing priorities and evolving timelines while maintaining reliable execution in a fast-moving launch environment.
