Job summary

SMBC is seeking an experienced Production Platform Support Manager in New York to lead reliability, scalability, and operational excellence for high-volume electronic trading, middle and back-office platforms.

The role combines hands-on production support with SRE leadership, automation, observability, incident management, and change management. Ideal candidates have a deep understanding of trading systems, market connectivity, and real-time data processing.

Qualifications

12+ years in application support or production operations in financial services, with 5+ years in management.
Experience with building and managing teams locally or remotely.
Experience with BCP activities and DR environments.
Experience with FIX protocol, OMS/EMS, market data, exchange connectivity, or algorithmic trading.
Experience with low-latency trading architecture.
Experience with Kubernetes and containerized workloads.
Experience with cloud networking and infrastructure.
Experience with monitoring platforms (eG, Prometheus, Grafana, LogicMonitor, Geneos/ITRS, Splunk).
Experience implementing SRE practices across large enterprises.

Responsibilities

Lead reliability and production stability for critical trading back-office platforms.
Build and mentor a team of SREs and production engineers for electronic trading platforms.
Define and manage SLIs, SLOs, SLAs, and operational budgets.
Own releases, change and deployment activities, including vendor upgrades.
Drive incident response, root cause analysis and long-term remediation.
Ensure 24x7 coverage as required and collaborate with stakeholders to set roadmaps.
