Job summary

Catalent in Philadelphia, PA seeks a Director, Process Excellence to lead enterprise-aligned CI, Lean/Six Sigma deployment, and site-wide transformation. You will translate enterprise goals into site roadmaps, drive PSI dashboards, and coach a high-performing CI team to improve safety, quality, delivery, and customer experience.

Collaborate with Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain to optimize processes, reduce waste, and enable scalable growth within a regulated manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, Business, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Proven success leading operational excellence and continuous improvement transformations.
  • Deep expertise in Lean, Six Sigma, and structured problem-solving methodologies; Black Belt or Master Black Belt preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GMP regulations, compliance requirements, and quality systems.
  • Demonstrated business acumen with the ability to translate strategy into execution and measurable results.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to influence and drive change across matrixed organizations.
  • Experience implementing enterprise operating systems, digital tools, and site-wide strategic initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills with a track record of delivering sustainable improvements.
  • Validated success improving PSQDC metrics, operational efficiency, CI culture adoption, customer experience, and organizational capability.

Responsibilities

  • Lead deployment and execution of site strategy (Hoshin Kanri), translating enterprise objectives into functional goals, KPIs, and actionable roadmaps.
  • Serve as the site leader for Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement, driving adoption of The Catalent Way (TCW).
  • Lead Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and structured problem-solving initiatives to deliver sustainable business improvements.
  • Govern a portfolio of high-impact CI projects focused on Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Customer Experience (SQDCC).
  • Design and implement end-to-end process excellence frameworks, standardizing processes, systems, and tools across the site.
  • Drive process simplification, waste elimination, cycle-time reduction, and deployment of best practices and digital solutions.
  • Establish KPI dashboards, visual management systems, and governance processes to enable data-driven decision-making and accountability.
  • Lead large-scale change management efforts while building a culture of continuous improvement, problem-solving, and operational discipline.
  • Develop organizational capability through coaching, training, and Lean Six Sigma certification programs, while leading a high-performing CI team.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Customer teams to improve service, on-time delivery, right-first-time quality, and customer satisfaction.

Position Title: Director, Process Excellence

Summary

The Director, Process Excellence serves as a key member of the Philadelphia Site Leadership Team and is responsible for driving enterprise-aligned process excellence, continuous improvement, and operational transformation across the site. This role integrates continuous improvement (CI), Lean/Six Sigma deployment, business process excellence, and change management into a cohesive operating system that enables scalable growth, consistent execution, and superior customer experience. The Director ensures enterprise strategies (e.g., The Catalent Way, CSS strategic pillars, and global Process Excellence initiatives) are translated into site-level execution through structured deployment systems (e.g., Hoshin Kanri), and establishes a closed-loop management system connecting strategy, performance, and daily operations. Additionally, the role drives site-wide transformation efforts using Lean, Six Sigma, and advanced problem-solving methodologies, building a sustainable culture of continuous improvement and operational discipline.

The Role
