Job summary

Temple University Institutional Advancement is seeking a Director, Principal Gift Prospect Intelligence and Strategy to lead campaign intelligence, portfolio strategy, and project management for high-priority initiatives.

You will translate complex philanthropic and financial information into actionable guidance, partnering with senior leaders and donors while upholding confidentiality and ethics principles.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required and 6+ years in prospect research, advancement ops, or major gifts.
  • Ability to translate data into actionable fundraising strategies.
  • Strong communication and collaboration with senior leaders and frontline fundraisers.
  • Understanding of campaign strategy, portfolio management, and donor pipelines.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and APRA ethics.

Responsibilities

  • Provide campaign intelligence and portfolio strategy for high-priority fundraising initiatives.
  • Project-manage processes supporting principal gift opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Prospect Development and Advancement Analytics to leverage data for campaign priorities.
  • Partner with development leadership and frontline fundraisers to guide engagement strategies.

Salary Range: $85,000 - $90,000

The Director, Principal Gift Prospect Intelligence and Strategy is a strategic member of the Institutional Advancement team, providing campaign intelligence, portfolio strategy, and project management support for high-priority fundraising initiatives. Reporting to the Assistant VP of Principal Gift Operations and University Priorities, the Director translates philanthropic, financial, relational, and institutional information into actionable strategies that positions fundraisers and University leadership to advance principal gift and campaign opportunities.

The position serves as a strategic partner to development leadership and frontline fundraisers, providing insight into portfolio composition, campaign pipelines, prospect opportunities, and engagement strategies. The Director works collaboratively with Prospect Development and Advancement Analytics to leverage institutional data and intelligence while focusing on the strategic application of that information to campaign priorities and fundraising strategies.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Details

Required Education and Experience
  • * Bachelor's degree.
  • * At least six (6) years of experience in prospect research, advancement operations, or major gift fundraising.
  • * An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • * Experience in higher education or healthcare.
Required Skills and Abilities
  • * Excellent written and oral communication skills and attention to detail.
  • * Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise, and actionable recommendations.
  • * Strong strategic thinking, judgment, analytical, and problem solving skills.
  • * Understanding of campaign strategy, portfolio management, and principal and major gift fundraising.
  • * Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • * Ability to build effective relationships with senior leaders, fundraisers, and colleagues across the University and Health System.
  • * Ability to communicate complex financial, analytical, and philanthropic information to varied audiences.
  • * Knowledge of industry best practices in philanthropy and fundraising. Ability to understand and adhere to data confidentiality standards, including University, HIPAA, GERD, and CPRA requirements. Adherence and familiarity with the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement (APRA) Statement of Ethics.
  • * Familiarity with Ascend, Lexis Nexis, DonorSearch, iWave WealthX, Windfall, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Salesforce, Teams, and Monday.com.
  • * Commitment to an inclusive workplace.
