Job summary

Georgetown University is seeking an Associate Dean and Director of Pre-Health Advising to design, coordinate, and oversee a comprehensive pre-health program for students and alumni. The role includes managing key programs, leading the recommendation process, and shaping student support with campus partners.

The position requires advanced degrees, substantial advising experience in health professions, and strong leadership abilities to guide a team and collaborate across Georgetown’s networks.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree required; M.D. or Ph.D. in a science discipline preferred
• 8-10 years’ experience advising undergraduate students required; advising on careers in the health professions preferred
• Prior managerial experience required
• Broad knowledge of health professions admission practices, industry trends, and best practices in health professions advising
• Ability to work closely with students, alumni, and faculty as well as build strong relationships with campus partners
• Ability to develop relationships with health professions school representatives
• Experience creating and leading programs and events
• Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills
• High level of strategic and critical thinking
• Ability to identify cultural nuances and navigate a complex network of constituents with sensitivity, poise and diplomacy
• An understanding of Georgetown’s Jesuit and Catholic identity
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet time-sensitive deadlines, and set priorities
• Strong orientation to detail
• Ability to work well under pressure and function as a team player

Responsibilities

• Designs, coordinates and oversees the pre-health advising program for the university
• Manages Early Acceptance Program with Georgetown University School of Medicine and Post Baccalaureate Pre-Medical Program
• Chairs the Pre-Medical Recommendation Committee and edits letters of recommendation
• Maintains relationships with admissions deans of health professions schools
• Coordinates the work of the pre-health advising team and supports student well-being and academic success
• Regularly interacts with campus partner offices and participates in College events
