Job summary

District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority is seeking a Director, Potomac Interceptor Program. This role leads budget, schedule, and deliverables for a $625 million, 10‑year capital project affecting the Potomac Interceptor pipeline and related assets.

The position requires a Civil or Mechanical Engineering degree, a DC PE license, and at least 10 years of project management experience with supervisory authority. A hybrid work format is offered in the DC area.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Ten (10) years of project management experience with seven (7) years of supervisory experience.
  • DC Professional Engineering License (PE) required at hire or within 6 months by reciprocity.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Potomac Interceptor Program budget, schedule, and deliverables totaling $625 million over 10 years.
  • Oversee program consultants, DC Water staff, and contractors to ensure on‑time, on‑budget delivery.
  • Develop and implement capital improvement program for the Potomac Interceptor and coordinate with departments and boards.
  • Prepare information and reports for senior leadership and the Board; provide guidance on water infrastructure matters.
  • Supervise staff, procurement, and contract administration; monitor risks and performance metrics.
  • Lead NEPA/SHPO environmental compliance efforts and manage environmental assessments.
  • Present program updates to executives, public, and elected representatives; coordinate with stakeholders.
