Job summary

Ally is seeking a Director, Portfolio Management to oversee sponsor-backed middle-market loans and participate in underwriting, structuring, and syndication of new transactions. The role requires deep credit analysis, risk oversight, and leadership of junior staff.

The position is based in NYC or Chicago with a hybrid schedule: in-office four days per week and one remote day. Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• 9+ years of leveraged finance, underwriting, or portfolio management experience.
• Experience managing middle-market leveraged loan portfolios.
• Experience with borrower amendments, waivers, restructurings, and refinancings.
• Advanced understanding of leveraged lending structures and cash flow valuation.
• Experience presenting to senior management and credit committees.
• Excellent communication and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain oversight of an assigned portfolio of commercial loans.
• Perform credit reviews and risk-rating assessments for senior management.
• Coordinate portfolio administration including covenant compliance and renewals.
• Monitor sponsor activity and macro developments affecting portfolio companies.
• Review and negotiate credit documents with legal counsel.
• Develop relationships with sponsors, investment bankers, and lenders.
• Lead portfolio management for criticized credits and coordinate with risk teams.
• Participate in underwriting new transactions and due diligence.
• Present underwriting recommendations to credit committees.
• Support syndication and lender presentations.
• Mentor Analyst and Associate team members.
