Job summary

Ally Financial’s Director, Portfolio Management will be based in NYC or Chicago, with in-office 4 days a week and 1 remote day. You will oversee sponsor-backed middle-market leveraged loans, drive underwriting, structuring, and syndication, and guide Analyst/Associate teams.

You’ll interact with Ally CF leadership, Risk, sponsors, and bank partners to ensure portfolio performance and risk controls. You’ll bring strong credit skills and a track record in credit analysis, portfolio oversight, and

Qualifications

• 9+ years of relevant experience in leveraged finance, underwriting, or portfolio management.
• Experience managing middle-market leveraged loan portfolios.
• Experience with borrower amendments, waivers, restructurings, and refinancing.
• Experience with sponsor relationships and lender coordination.
• Advanced Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain oversight of an assigned portfolio of commercial loans and identify emerging risks.
• Complete credit reviews, risk-rating assessments, and portfolio monitoring; present updates to senior management and committees.
• Manage portfolio administration, including covenant compliance, renewals, and coordination of bank group.
• Monitor sponsor activity, industry dynamics, and macro trends; develop risk mitigations.
• Review and negotiate credit documentation with legal counsel.
• Lead underwriting of new transactions; prepare and present to credit committees; mentor analysts.
