Job summary

Blue Shield of CA seeks a Director of Platform Engineering and Tools to lead the engineering organization, partnering with Application, Data, and AI teams to establish a robust technical foundation that speeds product delivery.

You will report to the VP of Platform Operations, shaping strategy, governance, and release practices while growing high‑performing, diverse teams in a hybrid in‑office model.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, MIS or 4 years additional experience.
• 10 years in software engineering, infrastructure, or platform.
• 6 years of people management with direct reports.
• Experience leading DevSecOps and cloud transformation with hands-on CI/CD and GitOps.
• Strong knowledge of AWS, Azure or GCP and multi-cluster security.
• Ability to translate technical strategy into business value for leadership.
• Preferred Master's in CS/IT/MIS.
• Preferred 6 years leading technical teams across disciplines.
