Job summary

Blue Shield of CA is seeking a Director of Platform Engineering and Tools to lead the team responsible for powering healthcare payors through modern technology and AI. You will partner with application, data, and AI teams to establish a scalable technical foundation that accelerates product delivery and aligns with business goals.

The role requires extensive experience in DevSecOps, cloud platforms, and multi-team leadership, with a track record of influencing senior leaders and delivering

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, MIS, or equivalent experience.
• 10 years of relevant software engineering, infrastructure, or platform experience.
• 6 years of people management experience supervising and coaching teams.
• Experience leading engineering through DevSecOps and cloud transformation; hands-on with CI/CD tooling and modern release practices.
• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and infrastructure automation.
• Ability to translate technical strategy into business value for senior leadership.
• Comfort operating in ambiguity with a bias for action.
• Master's degree preferred.
• 6 years leading technical teams across diverse disciplines (preferred).

• Drive DevSecOps culture and cloud transformation initiatives.
