Job summary

Coherent Corp. is seeking a senior Planning leader in Sherman, TX to drive end-to-end planning across Supply Chain, Logistics, Warehouse and Inventory Control.

You will coach and develop teams, establish governance, and align resources to critical business priorities in a 24/7 manufacturing environment. You will translate demand into executable production plans, manage capacity and material constraints, and partner with cross-functional teams to optimize performance and service levels.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in supply chain planning, production planning, master scheduling, logistics, inventory management, or related manufacturing functions.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams and cross-functional planning processes in a complex manufacturing environment.
  • Semiconductor, photonics, electronics, or other high-technology manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Functional & Organizational Leadership
  • Lead, coach, and develop the Planning, Logistics, Warehouse, and Inventory Control organizations, establishing clear roles, priorities, performance expectations, and development plans.

Supply & Production Planning
  • Lead development and maintenance of supply and production plans based on demand, capacity, material availability, inventory targets, yields, cycle times, lead times, and other key planning parameters.
  • Translate demand and business priorities into feasible production plans, wafer-start requirements, build plans, and scheduling priorities, as applicable.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate planning horizons, planning levels, planning cadence, planning assumptions, and exception-management processes.
  • Identify capacity, material, and process constraints and coordinate mitigation plans with Operations, Engineering, Program Management, Demand Management, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure plans are regularly reconciled to actual factory conditions and revised as demand, supply, capacity, or business priorities change.
Master Scheduling & Execution Alignment
  • Ensure effective translation of aggregate supply plans into detailed production schedules and execution priorities.
  • Partner with Manufacturing and Operations to monitor schedule adherence, WIP progression, production output, and shipment requirements.
  • Drive timely recovery actions when execution deviates from plan and escape issues requiring cross-functional or leadership decisions.
  • Balance near-term execution requirements with longer-term capacity, inventory, and customer-service objectives.
Logistics, Warehouse & Inventory Control
  • Provide overall leadership for warehouse, logistics, receiving, shipping, material handling, and inventory control activities supporting manufacturing operations.
  • Ensure materials are received, stored, controlled, and delivered in accordance with production requirements and established quality and control standards.
  • Ensure finished goods are appropriately controlled, staged, packaged, and shipped in support of customer requirements and shipment schedules.
  • Own inventory-control processes supporting inventory accuracy, traceability, accountability, cycle counting, reconciliation, and root-cause analysis.
  • Ensure warehouse and logistics operations support a 24/7 manufacturing environment and maintain appropriate service levels across shifts.
  • Drive improvement in inventory accuracy, material availability, receiving and shipping performance, warehouse productivity, and material flow.
S&OP / Integrated Planning
  • Provide the supply, capacity, inventory, and constraint inputs required for an effective S&OP process.
  • Partner with Demand Management and business stakeholders to translate demand into constrained supply scenarios and recommendations.
  • Support executive decision-making when demand exceeds available capacity or material supply, including prioritization and trade-off analysis.
  • Help ensure the operational plan is aligned with business priorities and provides an appropriate foundation for the financial plan.
Planning Transformation & Systems
  • Serve as a functional planning leader for the development and implementation of standardized planning methods, assumptions, governance, and performance measures.
  • Participate as a key business leader in the Sherman factory Production Planning Model, Semiconductor Devices Group (SDG) Advanced Planning System, and corporate Oracle Supply Chain Planning initiatives.
  • Translate business planning needs into functional requirements and help ensure system designs support intended planning processes and business outcomes.
  • Drive reduction of spreadsheet-based planning, manual reconciliation, and disconnected planning logic through standardized processes, data, analytics, and technology.
  • Partner with IT and business stakeholders to improve planning data quality, integration, reporting, and visibility.
Constrained Materials & Supply Risk
  • Partner with Global Procurement, a separate corporate team, to communicate material requirements, supply priorities, and projected constraints and to incorporate supplier availability and supply risks into production and supply plans.
  • Support centralized visibility and allocation of constrained materials across sites, products, and business priorities within the planning process.
  • Provide forward-looking material requirements and scenario information to support supply-risk mitigation, including rapid response to changing supplier availability and qualification status.
  • Ensure material constraints and their potential impact on customer commitments, production plans, and business objectives are visible and escalated appropriately.
Performance Management & Continuous Improvement
  • Establish and monitor planning, logistics, warehouse, inventory, and service KPIs that measure effectiveness, execution, and business performance.
  • Use data and analytics to identify supply risk, capacity constraints, inventory issues, productivity opportunities, and root causes of performance gaps.
  • Develop actionable reporting and operating reviews that support timely decisions and accountability.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives that reduce cost, improve lead time and service, increase supply flexibility, and strengthen process discipline.
Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Partner effectively with Manufacturing and Site Operations, Program Management, Demand Management, Global Procurement, Finance, Engineering, Quality, IT, Commercial organizations, and business leadership.
  • Ensure planning, logistics, and inventory priorities are aligned with customer commitments, NPI and production-ramp requirements, and business objectives.
  • Communicate significant supply, inventory, capacity, and execution risks clearly to leadership and drive timely decisions and corrective actions.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in supply chain planning, production planning, master scheduling, logistics, inventory management, or related manufacturing functions.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams and cross-functional planning processes in a complex manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing changing priorities and constrained resources while maintaining customer and business focus.
  • Semiconductor, photonics, electronics, or other high-technology manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

  • Proven success in leading and developing people and building high-performing teams.
  • Strong understanding of capacity planning, material planning, inventory management, production scheduling, warehouse operations, and execution alignment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to influence across organizational boundaries and lead through ambiguity and changing priorities.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP, Advanced Planning Systems, or comparable supply chain planning technologies; Oracle experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and analytics/reporting tools such as Excel, Power BI, SQL, or comparable technologies preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with operational teams, functional leaders, customers, and executive leadership.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required by the business.
Working Conditions

Working conditions are normal for an office environment and climate-controlled manufacturing facility.

Must be able to work effectively with a 24/7 manufacturing organization and provide support outside normal business hours when required by operational or business needs.

Physical Requirements

Sitting and working at a computer for extended periods; occasional movement through manufacturing, warehouse, and logistics areas.
