Job summary

ALSAC seeks a Director of Philanthropy in Florida to lead major gifts and planned giving, building strong donor relationships and guiding a high-performing team. You will drive strategy, manage a portfolio of principal gifts, and align activities with ALSAC's mission to cure childhood cancer.

You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, review progress, and stay current with industry trends to maximize individual giving revenue.

Qualifications

• Experience soliciting 6- and 7-figure gifts in major gifts and bequest/planned giving.
• Strong management and leadership capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to interpret complex verbal and written instructions.
• Proficiency with data processing applications.
• 8+ years of fundraising experience; Bachelor's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies to meet fundraising goals and align with organizational objectives.
• Lead, mentor, and coach a team of professionals with clear performance metrics.
• Manage a portfolio of principal gift donors from identification to stewardship.
• Establish policies to enhance effectiveness within budgetary constraints.
• Stay updated on fundraising programs and hospital initiatives to grow giving revenue.
• Review monthly revenue progress, prepare reports, and track donor visits.
• Represent ALSAC with third-party organizations and volunteers.

Job Description

As the Director of Philanthropy, you will be responsible for managing the development, planning, and implementation of all major and principal gifts and planned giving. Your role is vital in advancing our organization's goals, building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring ALSAC meets its critical objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies to ensure ALSAC meets its critical goals and supports overall business objectives efficiently and effectively.
• Lead, mentor, and coach a team of professionals, providing guidance on goals, professional development, performance expectations, and metrics of success.
• Responsible for managing a portfolio of principal gift donors through identification, discovery, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
• Establish and enforce policies and procedures to enhance organizational effectiveness while operating within budgetary parameters. Proactively address issues and develop problem-solving skills among team members.
• Maintain awareness of fundraising programs and hospital initiatives, actively seek ways to enhance individual giving revenue, and stay current with industry trends.
• Review and evaluate monthly progress of revenue, identifying areas that require attention, and provide this information to staff. Complete and review reports, travel expenses, donor visit reports, and proposals.
• Foster positive relationships with third-party organizations and volunteers in the assigned area, representing ALSAC-St. Jude's in a manner that reflects positively on the organization.

Job Requirements

• Thorough knowledge and successful track record soliciting and stewarding 6 & 7 figure gifts within major gifts and bequest/planned giving.
• Thorough knowledge of bequest/planned-giving within the non-profit sector.
• Strong grasp of general management methods.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for internal and external relations.
• Ability to understand complex verbal and written instructions.
• Familiarity with data processing applications.
• 8+ years of relevant experience. Bachelor's degree preferred.

Location & Work Arrangement: This position is Doral, FL preferred at our local Territory Office, though we welcome strong candidates from the East Florida areas.
