Job Summary
Manages, directs, and performs both professional and administrative duties associated with the operation of the Pharmacy, as set forth by hospital administration and various state and federal agencies overseeing pharmacy practice at WVU Medicine.
Minimum Qualifications
Education, Certification, and/or Licensure
- Must possess a current Registered Pharmacist license as required by the Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy.
Experience
- Completion of a health-system pharmacy administration residency program and 4 years of administrative experience, OR
- Five years inpatient and/or health-system pharmacy administrative experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Education, Certification, and/or Licensure
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Board Certification in a clinical pharmacy specialty.
Experience
- 1 year experience in retail pharmacy and knowledge of the 340B program.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
The following are general responsibilities; other duties may be assigned:
- Develop goals and plans for the Pharmacy Department.
- Utilize financial and productivity tools to manage resources.
- Identify and address budget variances.
- Promote professional development of staff.
- Establish a department culture promoting safe, effective, rational, and cost-effective medication use.
- Oversee drug distribution systems and clinical pharmacy services.
- Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory programs, report incidents promptly.
- Serve as secretary of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
- Represent the pharmacy on hospital and system committees.
- Act as liaison between WVU School of Pharmacy and the pharmacy department.
- Promote cost-effective programs maintaining quality.
- Participate in administrative on-call systems.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Bend, stoop, and stretch frequently.
- Lifting 30 pounds and pushing 50 pounds.
Working Environment
Standard pharmacy and office environment, with reasonable accommodations available.

- Ability to work under stress.
