Job summary

The Philadelphia Museum of Art is seeking a strategic Director of People and Culture to lead employee and labor relations, investigations, and organizational effectiveness. You will partner with museum leadership to strengthen staff engagement, performance management, and a fair, inclusive workplace.

As a senior leader, you will oversee policy development, coach managers, and guide initiatives across compensation, benefits, and HRIS systems while ensuring compliance and positive labor-management

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of ten years of progressive Human Resources experience, including senior HR, employee relations, or labor relations roles.
  • Significant experience in a unionized environment and familiarity with collective bargaining agreements.
  • Experience with HRIS platforms; ADP Workforce Now preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership on employee relations, labor relations, investigations, performance management, and leadership coaching.
  • Advise Museum leaders and managers on labor relations matters and ensure consistent application of collective bargaining agreements.
  • Develop and implement People and Culture programs that advance strategic priorities and enhance employee experience.
  • Foster fair, inclusive, and compliant workplace practices and strengthen collaboration across departments.
