Job Summary:

The Director of Pension Investments is responsible for oversight of public equity and fixed income portfolios within Textron’s Defined Benefit Plans consistent with the Plans' risk, return, and liquidity objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research new investments, conduct due diligence and underwrite new and existing investment managers, monitor performance and risk of the portfolio.
  • Establish decision criteria for selecting external investment managers utilizing both quantitative analytics and qualitative assessments to minimize risk and accelerate decision-making.
  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize both current and risk exposures; determine the most appropriate actions to monitor, and control the probability and/or impact of events.
  • Present new investment approaches and investment manager recommendations to the Chief Investment Officer & Treasurer.
  • Maintain broad market knowledge of the investible universe and external investment managers to ensure existing investment opportunities are considered and high performing managers are selected.
  • Work closely with investment operations, accounting, legal, tax and other support functions to ensure seamless management of the external public markets portfolios.
  • Execute portfolio transactions effectively, monitor adherence to approved plans and strategies, and recommend corrective courses of action if needed.
  • Diversify investment risk for each asset class and for the overall portfolio to improve portfolio performance.
  • Prioritize operational initiatives based on available resources to ensure achievement of portfolio objectives.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • BA or BS required; MBA, CFA, CAIA or other advanced degree related to investments, economics, finance, or quantitative analysis preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in portfolio management, investment consulting, insurance, financial services, or related field.
  • Bloomberg and eVestment experience preferred.
  • Expertise in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required. Proven ability to design and utilize worksheets and effectively communicate quantitative information and statistical conclusions with strong attention to detail.
  • Must be self-motivated, able to work with little direct supervision, and able to multi-task.
  • Must be a team player and able to maintain external and internal professional relationships.
  • Business travel expected, often self-scheduled, largely domestic, roughly 30% .
