Job summary

Genuine Parts Company is seeking a Payroll Director to lead end-to-end payroll operations across multiple entities and states. The role focuses on accurate, timely payroll processing, tax compliance, and strong financial controls while driving system implementations and process improvements.

You will mentor a payroll team and partner with Finance to ensure precise reporting, audits, and enterprise-wide cost allocations amidst growth and M&A activity.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience managing multi-state payroll operations for large, complex organizations.
• Strong knowledge of payroll accounting, GL processes, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Proven leadership experience managing and developing payroll teams.
• Deep knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements.
• Hands-on experience implementing and optimizing payroll systems, including Workday and ADP SmartCompliance.
• CPP Certification and a Bachelor's degree are required.
• Excellent analytical, forecasting and internal controls capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee full-cycle payroll processing for multi-state organizations with weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly pay frequencies.
• Manage payroll operations across multiple companies, branch locations, and FEINs for 8,000+ employees.
• Lead, mentor, and develop payroll team members with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations; manage multi-state tax compliance.
• Oversee payroll-related GL activity, journal entries, accounts reconciliation, and cost allocation.
• Analyze payroll expense trends and provide insights to senior leadership; support close processes.
• Conduct payroll audits and ensure data integrity, accuracy, and strong internal controls.
