Job Description

The Market Access & Patient Services (MAPS) organization within APEX plays an instrumental role in shaping payer market access and patient services strategies for all of AbbVie’s domestic brands. As a people leader of the Payer Contract Analytics team, you will influence securing market access across all therapeutic areas and payer channels by executing contracting strategies and leading all deal model analytics. You will partner with Business Evolution Strategy Development functions to build and scale deal analytics that reflect emerging market access and distribution models and modernize the overall Payer Contract Analytics function through process and methodological improvements and AI‑guided initiatives.

You will collaborate with internal stakeholders from Finance, Forecasting, BTS, Legal, Payer Strategy, Pricing and field‑based Account Managers to establish approved contracting terms that maximize brand net sales. You will focus on traditional and emerging payer channels, ensuring pricing and contracting strategies are executed through sophisticated Bayesian and other advanced simulation techniques.

Additionally, you will lead a team of contract analytics talent, embed analytical capabilities, enable organizational learning, and develop strategies that align with commercial goals of each brand. The role requires strong real‑world data modeling skills, expertise in the U.S. market‑access environment, and an in‑depth understanding of the evolving payer reimbursement landscape.

Strategic Contributions
  • Lead payer contract analytics across Market Access for AbbVie Neuroscience and Specialty brands.
  • Influence the implementation of brand‑level pricing and contracting strategies at the customer level to achieve optimal payer formulary access and maximize net sales.
  • Identify risks, opportunities, and sensitivities through advanced modeling to support executive decision‑making.
  • Build collaborative relationships with internal U.S. Market Access Sales, vendor partners, and Marketing stakeholders.
  • Model payer response to contract terms and measure brand dynamics for formulary placement and utilization management tactics.
  • Influence senior account executives and payer marketers with strategic problem‑solving and innovative scenario planning.
  • Engage external customers such as PBMs and Health Plans to share analytical insights and positively influence negotiations.
  • Shape pricing and contract decisions with data‑driven deal recommendations at the BU President, CCO, and CFO level.
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of data science, modeling techniques, and synthesizing insights into value narratives.
  • Continuously evolve contracting models to reflect complex customer business models and maximize AbbVie’s leverage.
  • Lead pre‑ and post‑deal analytics to advance Brand/Therapeutic Area objectives while optimizing Gross‑to‑Net.
  • Perform GTN reconciliation of deal financials to identify and quantify variances in price, volume, and utilization mix.
Leadership Responsibilities
  • Coordinate Market Access cross‑functional teams to rationalize bid response strategies and illustrate payer performance through fact‑based analysis.
  • Manage and mentor direct reports, ensuring timely and accurate responses to Payer contract bids/RFPs and simplifying complex financial deals.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment encouraging insight generation and continuous improvement.
Operational Assignments
  • Develop and refine analysis for allocating copay and voucher spend by product and payer to enhance GTN reporting and support informed financial decisions.
  • Drive and support the development of Medicare Part D and Commercial channel insights for multiple products on an annual basis.
  • Lead direct reports in updating contract performance reporting to flag under‑performing contracts for early corrective action.
  • Spearhead identification of Commercial and Medicare payer rebate data to uncover new contract insights and improve strategies.
  • Collaborate with Pricing and BTS to secure payer data field submissions and integrate them into rebate tracking tools.
  • Develop and refine contracting models to capture evolving payer business models and product lifecycles.
Qualifications
  • Strong business and financial acumen; experience in contracting with an emphasis on actuarial modeling, scenario planning, and financial analysis.
  • Ability to work in a matrixed environment and align with AbbVie’s cross‑functional ways of working.
  • Strong knowledge of channel dynamics and healthcare policy changes and capability to translate this into actionable strategies using advanced analytics.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise BI visualization tools to extract, analyze data, and communicate value stories.
  • Experience managing and analyzing patient claims data for Pharmacy channel products.
  • Robust understanding of pharmacy channel stakeholder economics, including PBMs and GPOs.
  • Ability to develop insights and communicate complex information into concise talking points for executive influence.
  • Experience influencing contract strategy through data‑driven pricing and utilization studies.
Work Experience and Educational Requirements
  • 10+ years of work experience in management consulting, data/financial analysis roles, or 5+ years of Market Access Payer Analytics, pricing strategy evaluation, or network contracting experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred) in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Actuarial Science, Decision Sciences, Operations Research, Health Economics, Finance, Applied Mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of direct people leadership experience.
