Sector: Academic / Research | Field: Conservation science | Discipline: Economics | Job Level: Senior | Salary Type: Salary | Employment Type: Full time

Who we are:

Agios is a biopharmaceutical company that is fueled by connections. We thrive in a supportive, fun, and flexible environment full of people empowered to bring their whole selves to work. We care deeply about our work, each other, and the patients who count on us. Our teams cultivate strong bonds with patient communities, healthcare professionals, partners, and colleagues, which helps us discover, develop, and deliver therapies for rare diseases — making a significant difference in their lives. In the U.S., Agios markets a first-in-class pyruvate kinase (PK) activator for the treatment of hemolytic anemia in adults with PK deficiency. Building on our leadership in cellular metabolism, we are advancing a robust pipeline of investigational medicines with active and planned programs in alpha- and beta-thalassemia, sickle cell disease, pediatric PK deficiency, and MDS-associated anemia.

The impact you will make:

We are seeking a dynamic Director of Patient-Centered Research to join our growing HEOR team. This role is vital in supporting our clinical development and real-world evidence activities, especially in relation to our expanding GDD portfolio. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for patient-centered research and experience engaging with regulatory agencies.

What you will do:
  • Design and conduct qualitative and quantitative research to incorporate patient perspectives into clinical and real-world studies, supporting regulatory approval, labeling, and market access.
  • Understand patient experiences with disease and treatment, focusing on outcomes that matter most to patients.
  • Develop and validate patient-reported outcome measures in line with FDA and EMA guidance.
  • Collaborate on COA endpoint strategies with cross-functional teams.
  • Prepare regulatory and clinical documentation, including briefing books, protocols, and reports.
  • Analyze and interpret COA data with statisticians, assessing clinical meaningfulness.
  • Lead publication and presentation efforts to disseminate research findings.
  • Support additional HEOR activities, manage vendor relationships, and ensure compliance with regulations.
What you bring:
  • Master's or doctoral degree in health services research, sociology, psychology, or related fields.
  • At least 10 years of industry, consulting, or academic experience, with 8+ years in patient-centered research.
  • Expertise in designing and interpreting patient-centered research and familiarity with drug development and regulatory guidance.
  • Strong project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience working in rare diseases is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to travel approximately 10-15%.

We encourage candidates who may not meet every requirement to apply, as we value diversity and unique experiences. Our environment is inclusive, diverse, and committed to equity and accessibility.

Work Location:

This role is location-agnostic, allowing for remote work within the U.S. or a hybrid setup at our Cambridge headquarters. Travel may be required for company events.

What we will give you:
  • Deliberate professional development opportunities.
  • Flexible work arrangements to support work-life balance.
  • Competitive benefits and performance-based compensation.
  • An inclusive environment that values psychological safety, diversity, community engagement, and employee well-being.
