Job summary

Portland State University (PSU) is Oregon’s public research university located in Portland. The Director of Pathway Advising for Language, Culture, and Meaning & Advising Training and Development will lead Pathway advising initiatives and supervise Academic and Career Advisors, collaborating with multiple offices to advance student success.

The role requires a Master’s degree in a relevant field and significant higher education experience, with a focus on diversity, inclusion, and data-informed

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a relevant field with at least 2 years of higher education experience.
• Understanding of the student experience at urban research universities and best practices in advising, student success, and retention.
• Experience in teaching and/or training and development in higher education.
• Strong organizational, writing, speaking, presentation, and supervisory skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Pathway-specific advising and retention initiatives.
• Supervise all professional Academic and Career Advisors in their Pathway.
• Collaborate with the AVP and advisors to delegate duties and develop communication plans.
• Provide leadership for Advising Training and Development within the PSU advising community.
