Description:

The Director, Oracle Financials & Platform Engineering is a technically deep leader at the intersection of business and technology who sets the strategy for the organization's Oracle platforms. Under the shared ownership operating model for Oracle ERP and EPM, this role is the designated technical owner of the Oracle Cloud financial applications suite: it owns the platform, integrations, security, technical controls, and environments, while Finance owns business processes, functional configuration, and business outcomes.

The role leads and grows the enterprise Oracle team across Financials engineering, integration, and database administration for Oracle Financials and other Oracle applications, with Oracle ERP and EPM as the primary focus. It owns the Oracle technical roadmap, shapes licensing and investment decisions, and partners with Finance leadership, Internal Audit, Risk, enterprise architecture, and infrastructure in a regulated financial services environment.

Role Specific Essential Functions:
  • Set the Oracle technical strategy and multi-year roadmap across Oracle ERP, EPM, integration, and database platforms, aligned with Finance, enterprise data, and enterprise architecture priorities.
  • Serve as the designated technical owner for the Oracle financials platform (e.g., ERP, EPM) and a trusted partner to the Finance leadership, co‑owning governance, including the RACI, change approvals for configuration, releases, security, and integrations.
  • Act as a key stakeholder in Oracle licensing, contract, and investment decisions, providing usage, cost, and technical analysis, and own the strategic technical relationship with Oracle and implementation partners.
  • Own technical administration of Oracle Cloud ERP Financials and related applications, and the technical layer of Oracle EPM (e.g., EPBCS, FCCS, ARCS, Narrative Reporting, EDM). Finance owns business processes (close, planning design), functional configuration, and business outcomes.
  • Ensure business requirements from Finance Systems and super users are translated into technical designs that favor standard Oracle capabilities, extending with Visual Builder, Redwood, and OCI only within enterprise architecture standards.
  • Own integration architecture between Oracle and enterprise systems, including core banking, loan and deposit subledgers, payments, HR and payroll, and procurement, using Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC), APIs, and FBDI. Finance defines requirements and validates reconciliation and controls.
  • Deliver Oracle financial data to the enterprise data platform through a variety of tools (e.g., BICC, Fusion Data Intelligence, APIs), and implement metadata, hierarchies, and mappings across systems. Finance owns the chart of accounts and business definitions.
  • Own Oracle security architecture and technical controls, including SSO, provisioning, role design, segregation of duties, and audit trails, with Enterprise IAM and Cybersecurity. Finance approves business access.
  • Own technical release management, operations, and resilience, including quarterly updates, automated regression testing, monitoring, incident and problem management, and disaster recovery. Finance owns business impact assessment and functional testing.
  • Own Oracle database administration for other Oracle applications and database systems, including availability, performance, patching and upgrades, backup and recovery, and security, in line with enterprise infrastructure standards.
  • Lead the Oracle technical strategy for merger integration including platform and application rationalization, modernization, interface cutover, and data conversion.
  • Build, scale, and develop the Oracle team, defining structure, roles, skills, and talent strategy as the team grows, including developing future leads and managers.
Role Specific Expectations And Qualifications:
  • Sets vision and direction for Oracle platforms and integration, and develops strategic plans and annual objectives. Anticipates Finance and enterprise needs, leads complex, high‑risk initiatives, and makes trade‑offs across accuracy, control, resilience, speed, and cost.
  • Regularly interacts with and influences executives, Finance leadership, and providers of products to the organization as better‑together. Expert‑level technical knowledge of Oracle ERP, EPM, and integration, with working knowledge of accounting, Finance processes, and Oracle database administration.
  • Leads a growing team of engineers, architects, administrators, and future leads as a player‑coach, reviewing designs and resolving critical issues. Responsible for team budget, operational plans, and service delivery, and approves schedules to meet organization requirements.
Education & Experience:
  • Required Education: Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, engineering, or a related field; accounting or finance background a plus; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Required Experience: 12+ years of enterprise application or finance systems experience, including 8+ years hands‑on in technical administration, integration, and support of Oracle ERP Financials and EPM (Oracle Cloud preferred; E‑Business Suite and Hyperion considered).
  • 7+ years leading technical teams, including setting roadmaps, managing budgets, and influencing vendor and licensing decisions.
  • Experience across both Oracle application and database administration (e.g., Oracle Apps DBA background) strongly preferred.
  • Financial services experience strongly preferred, such as a credit union, bank, or other regulated financial institution.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Deep technical knowledge of Oracle Cloud ERP Financials, EPM, and Oracle Integration Cloud, including architecture, security, environments, and the quarterly update cycle.
  • Hands‑on background with OIC, REST and SOAP APIs, FBDI, BICC, EPM Automate, and SQL; familiarity with Visual Builder, OCI, and Fusion Data Intelligence.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle Database administration, including performance, patching, backup and recovery, and high availability (e.g., Data Guard, RAC).
  • Experience integrating Oracle with core banking, HR and payroll, and enterprise data platforms, including monitoring, data quality, and reconciliation.

  • Experience operating in a shared Finance and Technology ownership model with clear RACI, change governance, and tiered support.
  • Proven leadership of large Oracle implementations, cloud migrations, platform rationalization, or merger integrations.
  • Experience shaping Oracle licensing, contracts, and vendor strategy, with strong financial and commercial acumen.
