What we need

We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Operations (Southeast) to lead operations across multiple customer sites within our distribution network. This role involves developing high-performing teams, ensuring customer satisfaction, and driving operational excellence. The ideal candidate is a results-driven leader with strong interpersonal skills, a commanding presence with clients, and a commitment to delivering world-class service.

What we do

The Director of Operations is part of the Customer Operations team, responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of Symbotic’s robotic material handling systems. This team focuses on operational excellence, quality, safety, and system performance by engaging with onsite customers and fostering partnerships.

What you’ll do

  • Lead multiple warehouse and customer site operations, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer expectations.
  • Partner with Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) teams to validate capacity planning and scalability.
  • Drive KPIs through action plans, continuous improvement, and performance reviews.
  • Build strong, long-term relationships with customer leadership through regular communication, performance reviews, and transparency.
  • Translate customer feedback into operational enhancements and collaborate cross-functionally to resolve issues.
  • Analyze workloads and allocate resources to optimize productivity.
  • Oversee staffing, recruitment, performance evaluations, training, and team development.
  • Implement operational policies to ensure safety, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Lead projects including automation scaling and digital warehousing solutions, managing timelines and budgets.

What you’ll need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Operations, Supply Chain, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • At least 10 years of experience in operations, logistics, or supply chain management.
  • Minimum of 7 years experience with automated systems, material handling, or digital warehouse tech (preferred).
  • Proven success managing multi-site operations and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to foster a collaborative, agile, and innovative culture.
  • Strong leadership, team development, and communication skills.
  • Experience in resource planning, project management, and budgeting.
  • Proficiency in operational data analysis and trend identification.
  • Understanding of compliance and safety standards.

Our Environment

  • Remote, field-based position with 50-75% travel.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to travel to client locations.
  • Responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses for reimbursement.
  • Work involves extended periods at customer sites, including work on construction sites with PPE, working at heights, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Must comply with all safety protocols and be capable of working in various environmental conditions.
