Job summary

VCI Construction seeks an experienced Director of Operations Management to lead and optimize all construction operations, project management, and field teams across markets. The position requires 10+ years in operations leadership within construction or telecom, a relevant degree, and willingness to travel 50%+.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required plus 10+ years in operations leadership.
  • Strong construction/telecom industry experience preferred.
  • Proven leadership of large field teams and multiple departments/locations.
  • In-depth knowledge of supply chain, finance, HR, and project management.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction for all construction operations and field crews across markets.
  • Develop and implement construction management strategies to improve productivity and delivery.
  • Monitor budgets, review financials, manage job costing, and optimize resource use.
  • Oversee backlog and ensure projects are on schedule, within budget, and meet high quality standards.
  • Enforce safety and quality standards in accordance with OSHA and regulations.
  • Collaborate with HR to hire, mentor, and train personnel.
  • Manage vendor relationships, procurement, and subcontractor quality.
  • Build strong relationships with customers and partners for long-term collaboration.

What You’ll Do
  • Provide leadership, direction, and guidance for all construction operations, project management, design & engineering, and field crews across multiple markets.
  • Develop and implement effective construction management strategies, operational policies, and best practices to increase productivity and achieve project delivery goals.
  • Monitor budgets, review financial information, manage job costing, and optimize resource allocation to maximize profitability and identify cost savings.
  • Oversee the construction backlog and ensure project managers deliver complex network construction and utility projects on schedule, within budget, and to high-quality standards.
  • Integrate and enforce robust safety practices and quality standards across all operational activities, ensuring full compliance with OSHA, regulatory, and environmental standards.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to develop job descriptions, hire, mentor, and train competent personnel, fostering a high-performance, people‑first culture.
  • Manage vendor relationships and supply agreements, overseeing procurement, inventory control, and ensuring subcontractor compliance and quality of work.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, and partners, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and identifying opportunities for long‑term collaboration.
What You’ll Need
  • Be 18 years of age or older.
  • Authorized to work in the United States for this company.
  • Have a valid driver's license and a good driving record.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (MSc/MA a plus).
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience at an operations leadership level, with significant experience in the construction or telecommunications industry strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience managing large field teams and multiple departments/locations.
  • In‑depth knowledge of diverse business functions and principles (e.g., supply chain, finance, HR, project management).
  • Strong analytical, decision‑making, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and performance metrics.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong leadership and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and relevant construction/inventory management software (e.g., ERP, project management tools).
  • Ability to travel to field offices and project sites as needed (50%+), primarily Southern California and Nevada. Other domestic travel will be required as needed.

Wage range for Director Operations Management: $155,000.00 – $195,000.00
